Probably because many people don't have that great a grip on stats and skills etc. It takes someone with Experience in RPGs to fully comprehend all the things of importance in character generation. Explaining it to them will probably just confuse the people without prior character generating experience.
I did leave a "point your fingers randomly" option.

Kaboose you're one of those few people, in addition to having a kickass avatar, that I think isn't a gritty, pretentious, pompous, twat of a forum blight. So excuse the hypocrisy when I say:

God save me, I think that 90% of the people on this site are hear to post one or more variations of the following in threads:

a) ^This

b) LOL

c) *insert generic witty comment*

d) Wow, cool..thanks!

e) Tl;dr

f) Any offhand/short comment

THIS, THIS, THIS, OH A MILLION TIMES THIS!!!!!!!

I don't understand the forum at times. Is everyone some 14 year old snotty brat that just got off the refugee boat from 4chan to come here and only make threads or post in threads to make lolcat and pron references? This isnt a meme forum or image board for christ sake! I find it infuriating to see the lack of content reinforced by exponential growth of what each poster presumes is "stellar wit".

There was one thread about discussing music and 10 pages of it was people posting youtube clips. THAT WASNT EVEN THE POINT IN DISUCSSION but no, it doesnt stop people from posting their crappy anime music.

The only threads that seem to get any noteworthy attention are the controversial ones..but that is understandable. What about threads that have a lot of effort in them? For example threads in the "user review" forum, the thread about being happy, the space thread? I could go on

People just care about the short term satisfaction of getting a post in on the first page and hopefully being patted on the back by million quotes saying "You sir, win this thread for your previous short and witty comment. HAHAHAHAHAH"

I give up sometimes.

Attention span. If you can get your idea out in a couple of sentences the internet will actually take time to read all of it.
Indeed.
If I splash agains a wall of text I will very rarely read it, thus I am far less likely to respond.
You need to keep it short and sweet, get people hooked then give those who stick around a little more.

It really does come down to attention spans. If you can't hold people's interest, they won't read a long post. It also doesn't help that it's fairly common for people to be here late at night when they're tired, which makes reading a long post even less tempting.

Question of the ages.

Honestly I dont agree with people dont like to read long posts. God knows Im a gasbag when it comes to writing posts, but it seems that even in some of the longest posts ive written, someone will read all the way through it to hone in on a 6 word sentence out of 8 paragraphs of text to inform me how im wrong about something.

even stranger question is how does something like this have over 2 million hits?

Or this have almost 85 million hits

The internet boggles my mind sometimes.

Well hey there don't be sad I've bookedmarked it, its pretty long but on occasion a go back and forth and read it a little. Now as comments go, not much can be said about it, it might be getting more views than you think.

Hey! My witty comments aren't generic!

Comedy aside, I didn't even know you were doing an LP, OP. I only look through the latest posts on the main page, myself.

Tl,dr comes down to it in a sence, but more importantly, it's the kind of enviroment you've put it in that effects it.
Think about it - Is a forum really the best place to put an entire let's play?

Honestly, I liked the post and await more since I'm much too busy to play that game as well. Basically, not many Let's Play threads are actually commented on a lot (even on the Let's Play site). But from what I've noticed they are read.

I know I will be reading it.

Don't worry too much over it since the internet is a fickle mistress.

I read some of your OP from the Daggerfall LP. I got to the character creation and thought I'd give you a helping hand. I then realise I've never played Daggerfall and have never memorized the Oblivion and Morrowind class system so I looked for help on you thread, which I found.

That's when I hit a rock.

There was too much information. Too much to pick from, I didn't want the burden of making your class and having put put in all that information. It's fine doing it by yourself, you just select a few things and you're off. But when you have to put it into text it's too much.

Advice? Go back, edit the OP with your class in that you've made and begin the LP.

Reason I didn't post in that thread? Too much information and I couldn't be bothered to make your game for you.
