I did, but what more do you want? Why do people play any game? Because they enjoy it, generally because it's good.

As someone who has played more MMOs than any human ever should, including WoW, it really does nothing a whole lot better or different that hasn't been done in previous games. I've always wondered why it was so popular.
thank you

That is simply not true, the features in WoW are far superior to any MMORPG i've played, everything works well. The PvP system is better than any previous MMO, along with the raiding system. They are the core concepts of the game and they easily out-do any MMO i've seen.

Edit: Of course these are just personaly opinions.

Because it's damn well put together. There's a huge community, the raids are all incredibly well put together and challenging, yet fun, and the PvP system is very good for those that are willing to invest in it.

Really, it's just a really good game that lots of people know about, thus it's popular.

Because it's easy and gives you a sense of achievement. The ultimate MMO for the ultra casual crowd.

Do me a favor--Play Toontown (USED TO PLAY IT!) or City of Heroes--They're MMO's and they aren't anything like WoW. Sure they have grind but you can't have an MMO without it. It's like fish to water or humans to air. Here's something different from WoW that most MMO's don't have that makes WoW stand out: constant new content, listening to the people who play to try and fix the game, quests that are mainly "Kill things" with the side-tracking of "Go talk to Man A" leading to a quest chain. The next part of the quest chain may be anything from testing a teleporter, flying a plane, dogfighting against Frost Wyrms. It does what it does differently, and while other MMO's may have alot of fans, please note that WoW did it first.

How is raiding any more improved over EQ2? The PvP in bloody Ragnarok Online with WoE was more fun than the snorefest of WoW's PVP. What about guild wars? Technically an MMO, but it's PvP was way better IMO.

Alot of people subscribe to it because it has lots of subscribers.

It's a vicious cycle. THough to be honest, it's kind of a mild cycle.

Apparently, WOW players just have to much free time and money.
So they have to figure out how to spent those two valuable things on completely unnecessary things as fast as they can.

I wonder if there's ever been a biker game by the name of 'The Vicious Cycles'.

I enjoy the game for the atmosphere and effort put into its creation. Make a character on Horde-side Wyrmrest Accord and you can sit in Brill and listen to peoples stories, explore areas to appreciate the music and feel of a zone.

I remember the pleasure I felt upon entering the Stratholme instance. Brought me back to the culling from the RTS games(Which you can also take place in, thanks to the bronze Dragonflight). The addition of the Looking For Dungeon system also gaurantees that you will come away from some encounters with hilarious stories.

In the end, it comes down to personal taste, though. I, personally, like the Goblins.

Goblin /Flirt - "Let me buy you a drink. Wait, you buy me a drink... You know what, just give me the money."

I guess just more people like it than any other MMO. I don't think there's some secret to it, it just kinda happened. It's the same thing as Uncharted, it's not a matter of revolution, it's a matter of doing it better than everyone else. Or at least refinement.

The only game that is anywhere within comparison of WoW's PvP system was Ultima Online. Nothing else comes close, epseically with the additions to the system in the last patches. Obviously we differ on opinions so i'll leave it at that, saves a pointless debate.
