Should I feel bad that I don't know who the OP is talking about? I tend to only go near music if I think it is good, and only after I think that something is good do I find out who actually did it. I guess that may be why i've never heard of all these new "popular music" people that fellows keep making threads about.
Kesha's popularity absolutely baffles me. Her music is terrible, she has no singing ability, she's unattractive, and her music videos are just bizarre. I cannot fathom why anybody would ever like her work.
I feel bad for her, she wakes up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy. I would hate to wake up in the morning being a different person.

Alcest. Never heard of them? (If you do then ignore the rest of this comment.) That's because they are an exceptionally talented band, but incredibly hard to market. They play a mix of black metal with shoegaze music, in other words fans of shoegaze may not exactly take too kindly to the screeching and vice versa. With Kesha (I fucking refuse to put a dollar sign in there)she sings, or rather autotunes, simple as hell songs with a catchy beat. Because of that, it's incredibly easy to market her. Anybody remember Aaron Carter? The guy was the equivalent of Justin Bieber for my generation and he quickly disappeared in the music industry. The same thing will happen to any pop star. It's called "pop" because it's meant for the mass population, and since everyone is fucking stupid, they'll listen to the music because "It's got such a good beat especially when you're making out with this chick when totally wasted bro!"aceverhart said:

While I agree that Ke$ha isn't exactly the most talented singer ever, if you don't think that she's hot, you need to get your eyes checked.
Well, I went to check out her music, since I had never heard of her. But I stopped when I saw that her name was written with a $ instead of an s. It might just be me who is being closed minded, but if someone spells their name using anything apart from proper letters, I'd rather just not have anything to do with them. Of course that might change if I met someone who did that and found out they were a decent person, but so far I've been able to stick to my bigotry.
