Wow, harsh crowd. This all actually sounds reasonable and deep. Like hre actually really thought it through. You people always bash games when they do the same thing every time...now you bash agame for not being the same and trying something new. It doesnt sound like its replacing Fable 4 either, just using the Fable world for a new type of game. Which is fine.

"Swords have Recoil."

Since when, Molyneux?

Maybe after a reflection from a shield but a sword hitting a target really has no type of recoil.
Not even from a hard target.

I think I can sadly say that Fable 3 will be my last Fable purchase.
We had good times. (Even with Fable 2)

Oh wow, that is going to be a catastrophic fail, at least rating-wise, hopefully also financially.

Waaaaah a game I'm not going to buy is forcing me to stand in front of my TV yelling "Lighting Bolt" instead of flailing around my invisible sword like I didn't want to before reading I couldn't.

While I'd say his logic is flawed, in that I doubt 99% of people care about feedback responses & all that jazz (though you only have to look at some of the kinect/wii/pswhatever racing games to see how important feedback can be to making a game playable or not), it makes sense & could be good if Lionhead make sure to build their game around magic & javelins being the only combat tools - as opposed to just making a run of the mill game before taking out the swords & guns.

I really do like Peter Molyneux the person; it's just that of late I have realized I hate Peter Molyneux the game designer.

So: a rail-shooter wherein you use magic and thrown weapons? Or is it still on rails? Maybe it's not on rails but, it still seems like it would be incredibly linear considering you'll be on a horse-drawn carriage. I'll have to see gameplay of it though and maybe even a few reviews. This probably won't be the thing to make me grab a Kinect.

"Will be" implies you don't yet own the game. I would strongly suggest renting it before you make the final buying decision. The magic system was the only area where I saw a noticeable improvement between 2 and 3. Be warned.

I can see where he's coming from on this. I don't really agree with him, but I certainly see why he'd do that.

Actually, with simple application of laws of physics you could probably figure out that magic would probably have recoil too. Shooting energy out of your hands is pretty certain to have some sort of reaction.
Not necessarily , unless it's an actual beam that is being shot out, i always thought as magic as a mind thing, and your hands are just to control direction. The actual strain being on the head, but like Petey said: ' Because players can't actually wield magic in real life, Molyneux explained, they don't have "encoded" ideas of how it should feel that get in the way of combat.' I too can see WHY he WOULD do that , but i think it should still be optional.

The thing is, when Microsoft approched Lionhead and just told them to make a kinect game, were lionhead expecting it, or have they just pulled a game out their ass and thought 'this will do' hoping it will please the Microsoft reps, but not really caring for it themselves and hoping to move onto the proper Fable 4 as soon as possible.

... What are you talking about?

Pick up something hard now. Now poke it really hard against a wall, what happens?

That's right, it stops! Even if you manage to shove it through to wall (which i hope you didn't do) you will at least feel resistance.

Not saying I agree with his reasoning, but swords do have recoil.

Funny, admitting a limitation of motion controls and using it as an excuse rials people up but when no fault is admitted people immediately point it out and say that it will bad because of it. Well whatever, its a design decision and I hope he does shoot himself in the foot with it.

Wait, so the entire concept of this game is to ride a horse cart around while slinging fireballs at everything nearby? And it's not a Flash banner ad from 2006?

I'd call bullshit if he didn't actually make a compelling argument, address a clear flaw with motion controllers, and I still gave a shit about the Fable series. I mean, do people really still think something original good will come out of this franchise? Okay, I enjoyed the first one at the time, but really that was just for all it's novelty reality sim sh*t, which suddenly got irritating after the first hour or so. Other than that the game was completely average, with the actual game mechanics being completely, generically functional. Later installments haven't improved much in that department, in fact, when asked about III by a friend the only comparison I could dome up with between it and the original was; "Half the RPG elements, twice the amount of faffing about".

Liking Molyneux is like being married to an abusive husband.

I LOVE YOU SO WHY DO YOU HURT ME LIKE YOU DO?
This is also what I feel too. I've bought ALL the Fable games up to this point. I think 2 was probably the penultimate one so far, and 3 was a abject failure in my eyes. A Kinect only title where you don't have a sword but I'm willing to bet my SOUL that enemies will be swinging whatever length of material they can carry at you. Why Peter, why?

After listening to Molyneux bullshit for so many years he's lucky people don't throw shoes, cans and rotten tomatoes at him. If he cuts down on the bullshit people might get behind him...lol who I'm kidding Peter Molyneux not over inflating concepts is like the Tea Party having rational thought processes.

I'm sorry, just making sure I read this right, but did you just put "challenge" in the same sentence as Fable...? If this was Fable 1 maybe... but 2 and 3? I could hand the controller off to a toddler and they'd fair just as well as anyone in a game with no repercussions for dieing and an overly simplified and dull gameplay. And from watching the gameplay before, yeah... there doesn't seem to be anything challenging about flailing my arms about.

Besides, Ryse doesn't seem to have any issues with melee and, what did he say, how the interactions should feel? I'm not playing the game to know how it feels for a hammer to hit some guy in a suit of armor, I'm playing because I like fun games.

NOW, when you make a fun game Moly, then you can come talk to me.
Fable 1 wasn't challenging at all, it could have been, but the inclusion of Resurrection Phials completely trashed all semblance of difficulty :(

Yes, because you TOTALLY see people wield swords and guns everyday.

I'm quite apprehensive of this, but I'm not going to condemn it just yet.
I shall wait to hear a little more about it
