Do HD and and good graphics please, maybe get some more adult third party support. And for god sakes, just tell publishers they aren't required to use your gimmicks (ie., motion controls and tablet controller). Thanks for listening.
The first two issues seem to have been addressed at E3- tech demos specifically designed to show off graphics and Reggie Fils-Aime confirming 1080p HD in a G4 interview shortly after the press conference, and an impressive list of third party games. However, I'd honestly be surprised if Nintendo was actually forcing developers to integrate certain control schemes. I remember SSBB not having any motion controls whatsoever, so I'm fairly sure they leave control choices up to the devs.
I simply meant that they so many devs made such poor use of the motion controls, they should realize that it's better not to use them at all, rather than have a bad control scheme. I know they aren't made to use them. And I have an aversion to the E3, personally, so I didn't see any tech demos. Glad to hear they are handling it properly this time around.

So all of us with Netflix accounts that receive DVD's can now be expected to unplug our white urine box in favor of a DVD player?

The best part about this is that I never actually bothered getting a standalone DVD player because for the last 6 years or so I've had a console that played DVD's. ...Smooth Move. Skipped the Wii and now the WiiU will follow suit. I loved my Gamecube so much too.
Lol. Same 'ere. I don't even remember what a DVD player looks like.

Reaction here if Nintendo said it would run DVD or Blu-Ray: "Oh Nintendo... now you're jacking the price up with pointless stuff games consoles don't even need."

Truly, Nintendo can't win with you people. It's getting pathetic how much bitching and moaning happens here about anything Nintendo does.
You're kidding right?

Nintendo has an obscene amount of fanboys on this site.
True, but there's also an obscene amount of haters ready to jump on this console and rip it to pieces over any news about it.

So the two sides kind of balance one another out with the haters bitching and the fanboys trying to get them to stop being such pessimistic fucks.

Not a terribly good idea.

Not using DVD = No using Generic storage medium = Third Party have to afford special disks just to port their games = Less Incentive for Third Parties.

DVD's storage space is already too low, with games such as Lost planet 2 having to cut content compared to their PS3 and PC versions just to fit onto the format.

The WiiU is going to be using 25GB discs, which is an improvement, but, nowhere near the 200GB theoretical capacity of the Blu Ray.

I'm not too bothered that it wont play DVDs or Blu-ray. And not just because I'm not going to buy a WiiU anyway, but because I'm still of the idea that I want my video game consoles to play video games and nothing else. It's great that my xbox can get on facebook, it really is, but I'm never going to use it and the fan on the thing means that if I ever did try watch a movie I'd have to set it on a stupidly high volume.

it's interesting but none of my concern
it's always a matter of your room design
i use the same monitor for my ps3 and my pc so i'd have no problem if my console is not as capable as my pc

i really don't think that THAT will be the reason for the wiiu to fail
...as there are plenty of others

Stupid nintendo, I don't care if I don't need it and will probably never use it I WANT IT, I mean if I could buy a regular mouse or a mouse that could shoot bullets even though I wouldn't shoot anything I would still pick the latter.

If the iPhone has proved anything its that useless capabilities sell.

That's fine by me, I have a PS2, a PS3, a DVD player or two and a computer capable of playing DVDs/Blu Rays, I honestly don't need another thing capable of doing that. And if it means they get to sell the WiiU cheaper then that's an added bonus.

Who the heck needs 200gb for a single game right now? I don't think I've even seen a single PS3 game take full advantage of the blu ray's 25gb single layer space.

It's a problem of space. If you have a console that play movies you don't need space for two hardwares. It's not the final decision feature but it's damn convenient.

PS.: The slot below the disck it's not plug controls because classic controls only work with wiimotes.

Who cares? I want a game console, not a media player. That's never been a factor in my console buying decisions. I bought a Wii first, for crying out loud.

I really do need professional help. I've never liked Nintendo, and everything in me screams "get away," but I'm feeling strangely enticed and optimistic about the WiiU...

And I can't see a problem in the world with the WiiU not supporting DVD playback. I have a DVD player, a computer, a PS2, a PS3, and an XBox 360 to play my DVDs in. Why would I need anything else?

Nobody really.

However, you have to consider the longevity of a console, once the Xbox 360 and PS3 are replaced by whatever Sony and Microsoft have planned, games will be able to move to support the new hardware, and in the move, it may mean that disc space becomes vitally important and lower compression along with higher quality assets means that games may finally be able to make use of the higher capacity discs.

Although, this won't be an issue for Nintendo really, I doubt the Wii-u's hardware is going to be run these games at a standard which would require higher disc capacities.

I agree full heartily with Nintendo on this. What narrow-minded idiot buys a video game console for the sake of having a DVD player built-in? Stuff like that are a true example of bells and whistles. I'm still baffled as to how the PS2 can single-handedly kill the Dreamcast simply because it could be used for a damn DVD player.
To be fair on that front, it was mistakes that Sega made prior to the Dreamcast being released. I don't think I need to bring up how terrible of ideas the Sega CD and 32X were, but let's not forget the marketing mistake that was Saturnday.
