Wildman Kickstarter Could Be Running Out Of Gas

Gas Powered Games' Chris Taylor thinks the Kickstarter is a long shot.

When Wildman's Kickstarter numbers first started to wobble, Gas Powered Games' Chris Taylor took the extraordinary step of letting pretty much his entire staff go, to protect them as much as possible. The Kickstarter continues [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/121648-Chris-Taylor-Says-Wildman-Kickstarter-Will-Continue], but at this point Taylor isn't as hopeful as he was that there will be a happy resolution to the problem.

Even in the best case scenario, says Taylor, speaking in an hour-long interview [http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=185562], Gas Powered would probably have lost about half its staff. Hence the layoffs, and though about thirteen of them have since come back - "eyes wide open" says Taylor - knowing that the risk of failure was high, it looks as though it may not be enough.

"The numbers are catastrophic," says Taylor, "People think money will come in the eleventh hour, and it will save their company ... if it doesn't fund, we're emotionally and financially prepared to deal with the consequences."

The video [http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gaspoweredgames/wildman-an-evolutionary-action-rpg] has Taylor demonstrating some potential gameplay, assuming that the Wildman project comes to pass.

"I can't wait to see how this movie ends," Taylor concludes, as he contemplates the end of the campaign. "I want to get on with my life."

Perhaps you'd be better making a good game on a smaller scale first....
considering his previous work, this IS a smaller game....
Considering the last 2 sucked enough to where they had to sell off the IP, they need to start smaller.....

Supreme Commander 2 improved through patches. a lot. so that doesnt count.

ages of empires online on the other hand, we never really know how much they screwed up since they just replaced Robot Entertainment on that.

okay, one point for you, but still they gave us non sucky Dungeon Siege and he worked on the awesomesauce Total Annihilation and supreme commander series.

and they shouldn't have to shovel shovelware like RARE does nowadays...
So you could full zoom, ect on SC2? I kinda gave up on waiting for it.

DS2 was not as bad as just very generic, I wish it had a none re spawn mode where you are kinda stuck with what you got and such.

I kinda liked DS3 but it was as generic so they are not much to blame for devs making watered down crud.

I guess this is repercussion for Space siege. LOL

actually , dungeon siege 3 was developed by obsidian for square enix....

i still need to play space siege.. so cant talk about that.
I know thus why I said "they are not much to blame for devs making watered down crud.
"

But still the main thing I liked about it was dodging even Diablo 3 dose not have that.

Space Seige is more like a classic PC over head shooter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crusader:_No_Remorse just worse...it was really made for consoles and did not have much depth.
