Will it blend (you and tv)?

From the other TV-esque thread, the overriding sentiment was not relevant. The less obvious sentiment was people giving up on the TV.

So what would it take to get you to return? What kind of show would entice you? Any show, but more intelligent? Less filler? Longer episodes?

It'd take for me personally the complete dissolving of all decency standards, the introduction of a Science/Sci fi channel that had neither wrestling, campy movies, or 3 hour marathons of paranormal "study", and maybe, while I'm asking for big bags of Gold, a show like The Wire but set in the far future or space or troglodyte valley.

*like The Wire as in novel-style programming instead of episodic mini-adventures, not crime shows

For a second there I thought you were talking about the Youtube series "Will it Blend?"

I really want them to do an episode where they try to blend a smaller blender.

I don't want to ruin your innocence, but they won't do that because "Will It Blend" is actually a viral advertising campaign for a blender company.

Honestly, even if they do come along with good shows I'm just going to end up watching them on DVD. TV is only good for topicality these days; shows like the Daily Show and Colbert Report are all I'm ever going to watch, and I usually have better things to do, no matter how much I like them.

I would much rather watch everything on my television, however for the most part it's just easier to get to it on my computer. Until the entirety of classic television is on demand I'll make due with sitting in front of my computer monitor regardless of programming.

I would like to see a return to dramatic writing and stories

you know, things that are actually entertaining to watch as opposed to "stuck on an island somewhere". this is why i loved the following shows:
Firefly
Sarah Conner Chronicles
Heroes

Lost is much better than most of the drivel on the idiot-box. TV won't be worth watching until they do it like Pandora. Where it learned what you liked, and showed you more of that sort of thing, while occasionally trying to get you into new stuff.

Oh, and they'd have to air fansubbed anime, instead of terribly dubbed anime.

Oh, oh, and let's for the love of all things good stop trying to shove 'celebrities' down our throats. I do NOT CARE who has sex with who in America, or even Australia. I care what media they make.

And MOAR NATHON FILLIAN IN THINGS.

I miss The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. I watched it when I was a wee thing and now, I want to watch it again.

Ball's in your court, media!

Yes, a key condition of me returning to TV-land would be the annihilation of most reality TV. It's insipid, and insulting.

For starters a death to America's next top: model, fashion designer, hair dresser, cook and any others of that breed.

I gave up the Great Glass Teat in favour if the Cyberteat. I've since lost several kilograms (Comparatively to the norm of that age.) and re-developed my debate ability.

i have cut down a lot, yes, more good at least pseudo original(or just REALLY good) shows like firefly, its always sunny in philadelphia, and cowboy beebop. and less filler/garbage. thats never going to happen though, because stupid people are far more numerous than us, bad writing is cheaper, bad acting is cheaper, bad animation is cheaper, bad special effects are cheaper, stupid people have very low standards, they just needs lots of sex and the occasional explosion. they also dont like to feel stupid, which well written stories probably do.

and i really dont care whos having sex with who, unless one of the people involved is either me or someone im currently dating.

I saw him in an episode of Desperate Housewives my wife was watching. Couldn't bring myself to watch it but i'm sure he was cool in it and had a spaceship and Reavers took out Shoeface or whoever the oldest one is. The woman from "The Sure Thing".
