Wing Commander: Armada Lands on GOG, Earns Series a Discount

Players can buy the entire classic Wing Commander franchise for 50 percent off at GOG until Saturday, November 23rd.

My first experience with the Wing Commander games back in the mid-90s and I've been hooked on the series ever since. Not everyone is as lucky as I was and there are probably more than a few gamers out there with some catching up to do. If you're one of them, you may want to head over to GOG where the digital retailer has just added <a href=http://www.gog.com/news/release_wing_commander_armada>Wing Commander: Armada which, in turn, completes the series on the site. Armada is being sold <a rhef=http://www.gog.com/game/wing_commander_armada>for only $5.99.

If you're interested in picking up Armada, or any other Wing Commander games for that matter, GOG has also announced a celebratory sale offering a <a href=http://www.gog.com/promo/wc_complete_series_promo_251113>50 percent discount to anyone who buys the entire series in one shot. This means you can pick up the whole franchise for under $24. This promotion is only running for the next 48-hours however, so if you're interested you'll want to jump on it fast.

If you aren't sure that the Wing Commander games are worth the investment however, and could use some guiding impressions, head over to our recent <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/tag/good+old+reviews>Good Old Reviews of <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/129478-Good-Old-Reviews-Wing-Commander-Prophecy>Wing: Commander Prophecy and <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/129692-Good-Old-Reviews-Wing-Commander-1-2>Wing Commander 1 & 2. Also be sure to come back both this coming Saturday and the one following for new reviews of Wing Commander 3 & 4 and Armada.

Must resist urge to to buy the whole series. If I didn't have so many games I haven't played yet thanks to both Steam and GoG, I'd be all over this. Sadly, as I own at least 15 games I have yet to fire up, I'll have to pass. This makes me sad.

Only 15? I admire your willpower, I broke 40 earlier this year.

Well excuse me for having a mortgage payment! :p

Seriously, if it weren't for all my stupid grown up bills I'd probably be rolling in games that I'll probably never play.

from personal experience id say avoid armada. its bare bones wing commander and a half assed game but the rest of the series is worth picking up
Jupp. I actually bought it back in the day (EA Classics) and had some enjoyment off it... but not much. Basically you are dogfighting over sectors, and when you have won all, you win the game, and that's it. With all the jewels out there, not really a game worth playing.

After checking, it has 4.5 Stars on GOG, which I find surprising. I would have awarded 3.

The discussion here has prompted me to check, and turns out I have 101 games on GOG. Awesome! Maybe I will actually get to play them all when I retire!
