why are they always such bitches to the men?

they always put the husbands down, they act is if sex with them is a chore even though im pretty sure most women enjoy sex as much as men do, they always contradict themselves and act as if they are always right.

examples of this are apparent in most sitcoms such as:

-Everybody loves Raymond (Debra is probably the biggest ***** out of them all)

-Rules of Engagement

-King of Queens

-Friends (mainly Monica with Chandler)

-Two and a Half Men (Judith mainly, but im pretty sure she is the devil, so she kind of doesnt count

the list goes on, now i am aware that sometimes the men act like dicks and deserve it, but most of the time they do nothing wrong, and my cousin (who is female) agrees with me about all of this

so my question is, what do you think about it?

I dunno, but then again i find most of the characters in sitcoms overall to be intolerably annoying.

It's just a stereotype, just like how husbands always seems to be fat and dumb.

They want drama because there needs to be conflict for it to be interesting (they feel). So they make the males clumsy oafs and the females nagging witches. It's stupid and certainly not representative of most relationships but when they don't have a plot aside from that, they use it as their trick. You'll note series with a strong ongoing plot suffer from that kind of thing much less.

Just going to throw this out there, but Community makes frequent references to this stereotype through one of the female characters.

Other than that, it's just something that's easy to write.

Attractive bossy/controlling wife + dumb/fat/immature/incompetent/take your pick husband + minority/different race best friend add a dash of kids to taste and voila, you have yourself a sitcom.

Not to say I don't or won't watch them, but they're just too same-y, nothing stands out about them really.

I think you're pretty naive if you think that women only act like this in sitcoms. It's more extreme on T.V, and presented as some sort of pathetic attempt at comic relief, but many women are like this; piss them off and they'll cut you off from sex and spite you by spending as much of your money as they can. The main problem is that they get pissed off for the pettiest of reasons, and stay like that for extended periods of time.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I think it comes down to a controlling wife can be funny but a controlling husband starts getting into the realm of being seen as abuse

most of the time I find women on tv really grounded somtimes angry like you said but more grounded and just get upset because the men are always super stupid. It somthing this is in every show from the simpsons to liveaction shows like big bang theory to be honest I find tv to be really sexist towards men because they always are always shown as idiots but they really cant do it the other way because the feminists would have a field day

A bitchy housewife is an integral part of traditional sitcoms.

Which is just another reason the only sitcom I watch is Seinfeld. I despise the stereotypical family archetype sitcoms use... well, actually I despise most things about sitcoms.

I fucking love community but i'm not sure which character you are referring to.

These sitcoms are usually based on the comedy of the males, so that might be a reason. Once a comedy that does that succeeds, everyone will flock to it. Same as games and movies.

I hate it, it's irritating and sexist. But I'm a man, so anything I say against it is misogynistic and wrong.

Brita is essentially built of this stereotype. She's a self-righteous ***** who treats men like they're all great lumbering oafs, but in reality basically revolves around them.
