Nah, there wasn't enough Shu wank for that to be a Dynasty Warriors trailer.Anyway, that trailer has so little gameplay in it if I didn't know better I'd say its a new dynasty warrior.
What do you consider Nioh to be a clone of?Can something be called a spiritual successor when the last entry of the franchise is barely 2 year old? Especially when that franchise is itself more or less a clone of another franchise which is still very much alive.
Bloodbo....oh...What do you consider Nioh to be a clone of?
Don't say Souls.
Onimusha and Ninja Gaiden. What do you consider Nioh to be a clone of?

I can see it with Onimusha... but the last new Onimusha was ten years ago.Onimusha and Ninja Gaiden.
Mixed with a bit of Diablo when Diablo was good.I can see it with Onimusha... but the last new Onimusha was ten years ago.
Ninja Gaiden is lol.
Nioh was first announced in 2005.I can see it with Onimusha... but the last new Onimusha was ten years ago.
Both Nioh games reuse some animations from past Ninja Gaiden games. Mainly the whole over the shoulder aiming with the arrow. It's also implied and stated in both Nioh games that they take place in the same universe as in NG, and by extension, DOA.Ninja Gaiden is lol.
Holy shit it took them 12 years to make Nioh!? Damn wtf bro.Nioh was first announced in 2005.
I forgot the game even existed, until that new announcement and they restructured the entire game. The game was originally going to be a cross between Samurai Warriors and DMC.Holy shit it took them 12 years to make Nioh!? Damn wtf bro.
I'm glad they did. I think Nioh is a much better game than it could have been tbh.I forgot the game even existed, until that new announcement and they restructured the entire game. The game was originally going to be a cross between Samurai Warriors and DMC.
Oh come on! Over the shoulder is an obvious perspective for third-person shooting, and it's become massively widespread. Both Nioh games reuse some animations from past Ninja Gaiden games. Mainly the whole over the shoulder aiming with the arrow.
When on earth is that stated in Nioh!?It's also implied and stated in both Nioh games that they take place in the same universe as in NG, and by extension, DOA.
The way the camera is angled, is almost shot for shot, how NGII did it when aiming/charging with arrows.Oh come on! Over the shoulder is an obvious perspective for third-person shooting, and it's become massively widespread.
Does not make it any less true. Even with how the game changed, I still get Onimusha vibes. And it should be obvious that Nioh as we got it was enormously different from what that trailer shows.
When on earth is that stated in Nioh!?
The way the camera is angled is "over the shoulder". There's only so much flexibility you can get there. You may as well be calling it a Resident Evil 4 clone, because that employed a similar angle. The way the camera is angled, is almost shot for shot, how NGII did it when aiming/charging with arrows.
Yeah, so do I! There's a huge gulf between "getting vibes" and being a clone. I get Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho vibes from Resident Evil: Code Veronica, because it evokes it intentionally.Does not make it any less true. Even with how the game changed, I still get Onimusha vibes.
Hop to it.
Not really. And even then, they use certain combat elements from previous Ninja Gaiden games. Not completely, but it's there if you bother to look. And like I said before, they even reuse some animations. Also, the camera doesn't zoom in as much on Ryu compared to Leon. The way the camera is angled is "over the shoulder". I know demons in Samurai and ninja fiction are are nothing new, but but it's not the first time Capcom or KT for copying or taking inspiration from each other. Yes, before you start, I know this was way before the merger happened.Yeah, so do I! There's a huge gulf between "getting vibes" and being a clone. Just because something's a joke, doesn't mean it can't be canon. Look at Street Fighter and Final Fight. Also, you might want to tell 4th Snake that.Jin Hayabusa is a fight in a jokey side-mission with no story import. It's a reference, not a bloody serious canonical addition.
The differences is that's just a developer in joke. Now you can still have an in-joke, and have it be canon or semi cannon. It depends on who's doing it and how they are doing it. Once again, look up the Street Fighter universe. You would be amazed at how many Capcom games crossover into that, and is considered canon. You can get a set of "Cooper Clan" armour to look like Sly Cooper in Ghost of Tsushima, too-- Sly Cooper and Ghost of Tsushima in same timeline confirmed?!
If you're searching for it, you can find things in common between bloody anything. This is a stretch and a half. And if you consider this similarity in shooting-- which is a tiny part of Nioh, considering 95% of your combat will be in melee-- to result in the game being a "clone", that's frankly very silly indeed. Not really. Actually, I was going to make the point that demons are part of Japanese mythology. They're both pulling from the same well. Games using beasties from Greek mythology aren't all copying eachother, either; they're all drawing from... Greek mythology.I know demons in Samurai and ninja fiction are are nothing new, but but it's not the first time Capcom or KT for copying or taking inspiration from each other. This is a video he did from last year, instead of 4 years ago.
What it seems to depend on here is whether the player wants it to be true or not. Jin Hayabusa looked like a wink-and-nudge to me; a little like the kid with the name "Shinra" talking about technology etc in FFX-2, and people concluding that FF7 and FFX must therefore be in the same world. The differences is that's just a developer in joke. Then why all the heavy lore connection between all the games? I highly doubt Team Ninja did all that for the sake of one big "joke". What doesn't help matters is that team ninja doesn't seem to deny this. They're definitely not going out of the way to deny anything. Most fans think there's a connection. If you think otherwise, more power to you. Once again, I bring up Street Fighter. You won't believe how many games connect to that series, unless you know already. What it seems to depend on here is whether the player wants it to be true or not. If it was intending to make a serious connection, do you not expect it would've done so outside of a joke side-mission?
So? Still doesn't change the fact certain elements are used. Nioh is still its own thing, don't get me wrong, but those connections don't hurt it, NG, or anyone. What's there is there. And what is it is not. I can't help but fill your splitting hairs on this. Agree to disagree all you want.If you're searching for it, you can find things in common between bloody anything. Then you might want to go on his video channel and contact him. Or private message him. See how he responds. That guy makes a huge number of very questionable logical jumps and connections. Like the idea Tsuchigumo is "based on" this other boss in Ninja Gaiden... but both are based on the same Yokai. They have the same origin, of course they'll look similar; it's like saying Percy Jackson and Narnia are connected because they both have Satyrs!
