Thread is clear which do you prefer in terms of story, gameplay, or etc.
Personally I have to give it to Wolfenstein, I loved the leaning mechanics and the encounters were a little more diverse

Both are fantastic first person shooters, but Shadow Warrior is still significantly more fun than Wolfenstein IMO. It's also longer and infinitely more replayable. The sword gameplay is superb, powers you get are fun to use and weapon upgrading system makes it all even more worthwhile. Some of the boss battles are really intense and the environments are also both pretty, varied and fun. Enemy variety and design is fantastic and while the story isn't serious or particularly gripping by any stretch, the main character and his demon ghost buddy are fun. The game is completely self aware and it's embracing its own cheesy nature.
I don't have anything negative to say about Wolfenstein except that it's kind of short, doesn't have the same replay value (but that's subjective) and for some reason it's simply not as fun as Shadow Warrior for me.

Both games could have benefited greatly from arena style multiplayer.

I haven't finished either. That said, I enjoyed my short time with shadow warrior a hell of a lot more than my even shorter time with wolfenstein. Wolfenstein was just a snoozefest for me. The gameplay just didn't do anything for me. It never felt particularly cool, nor particularly deep nor in any other way good. The setting was kinda alright but didn't do much for me either. I at least saw what they were going for. The enemies were boring, the weapons were meh, everything was just meh. Shadow warrior had good gunplay. Plus shadow warrior had the main charactar making dickjokes about his own name. So I'll choose shadow warrior.

Mmm, that's a good question. I'd have to say that while I loved both, Shadow Warrior is easier for me to jump back into repeatedly due to the greater amount of carnage it is possible to inflict.

Shadow Warrior had severe difficulty issues. Enemies were too easy to kill on lower difficulties. Bullet sponges on upper difficulties. It didn't help that all of the guns were terrible.

Shadow warrior definitely. Wolfenstein doesn't make me giggle with glee as i slice up the bad guys into various shapes then pull out a quad barrelled shotgun that looks like it was sculpted from a particularly hefty, ugly pair of Predator's armoured grizzly gonads, proceeding to empty all four barrels simultaneously into the poor sod who happened to be the last one standing, then speed-rush outta there like a cat on a scat who just squat and shat. A leaning mechanic just does not compete on the same level. ;) Also it really bugs me how B.J. looks identical to John Cena.

I really enjoyed both games. But, I have to give the edge to Wolfenstein. I had a ton of fun with Shadow Warrior but it just seemed to go on and on and on. I was ready for it to be over when it finally did end. I had a blast double shotgunning nazis and laughing at the humor all the way up to the finale of Wolfenstein. I think had both games been the same length (slightly longer than Wolfenstein and slightly shorter than Shadow Warrior) I would give the edge to Shadow Warrior.

Both are great games in terms of FPS mechanics, but Wolfenstein had a better story and characters so that gets the advantage from me.

TNO all the way. Shadow Warrior suffered from bullet sponge monsters, shitty underpowered guns, and a story that couldn't decide what it wanted to be. Also TNO ended right about when I was starting to get sick of it, SW dragged on several hours past the point where it ran out of content.

They're such different games. Wolfenstein gripped me for different reasons, and due to it's pace and variety had me playing it in a more deliberate, careful fasion, and enjoying the environments a lot more. Although you can run and gun there as well (dual assault rifles FTW), the story actually had me sitting up and paying attention, which is a lot more than I could say for the latter part of Shadow Warrior.

I did love Shadow Warrior though. Once you get the hang of the powers and sword, it becomes quite fun. Never had a problem with the difficulty, as soon as a new, tough enemy type showed up, it's just a matter of figuring out a strategy that works, and/or saving the right ammo for it. The only ones that gave me a bit of problem is those guys with the vulnerable part on their back, they were a bit of a pain if you ran out of explosives. Also that demon companion (Shoji was it?) got really annoying after awhile. I know that's supposed to be his shtick, but man it wore out fast. I did like the various environments though.

It really depends what you're in the mood for. I still vote for Wolfenstein though, really satisfying gunplay and very, very polished game overall - graphics, controls, sounds, story, voice over, difficulty curve, boss fights, atmosphere, funny yet serious....etc.

Wolftenstein's seamless blending of stealth, cover shooting and classical run-and-gun mechanics makes it the far superior game. You can always switch up in Wolfenstein and try a new approach, which is much harder in Shadow Warrior. Don't get me wrong, Shadow Warrior was a fun game, but its' gameplay centered on the sword and chi-powers, the other weapons were mostly useless, save for one or two that had situational advantages. Wolftenstein also nailed its' story and storytelling, managing to treat Nazism with the respect and gravity the topic deserves.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Hmm, neither one is perfect. The combat in the new order is more fun, but the game doesnt really let you have the most fun with it since the enemies are all hit scan so you cant really just run and gun as much as one would like, plus the levels aren't designed for that, they are open but with paths. The enemies in shadow warrior are more fun to fight against but they are a bit bullet spongy and some of your weapons feel kinda weak. I think a combination of the two would be a fantastically fun game, the visceral combat of the new order combine with the entertaining enemies and more open run and gun nature of shadow warrior.
