Wolverine 2 Set In Japan

The script for the sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine [http://www.amazon.com/X-Men-Origins-Wolverine-Two-Disc-Digital/dp/B001GCUO16/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1279054353&sr=1-1] has been completed and it's set to take place in Japan.

According to Showbiz411 [http://showbiz411.blogs.thr.com/2010/03/03/wolverine-japan-adventure-is-a-go/], the script for X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 has been completed by screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie, who won an oscar for The Usual Suspects and has worked on rewrites for Bryan Singer's X-Men movies. No director has been attached to Wolverine 2 yet.

X-Men movies have certainly seen a run of success this decade, with four films under its belt grossing a total of $1.565 billion. The last film was a prequel centered around Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and introduced peripheral X-Men characters like Wade Wilson/Deadpool and Gambit. Other Origins movies are planned for other characters including Magneto and the younger X-Men trio of Rogue, Iceman, and Pyro, but based on the popularity and success of Wolverine, the studio is moving forward with his story.

The plot for McQuarrie's film is based on a story arc originally written for the Wolverine comic by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller, of Sin City [http://www.amazon.com/300-Widescreen-Gerard-Butler/dp/B000QXDED6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1279054381&sr=1-1] fame. In the film, Woverine travels to Japan to learn martial arts and gets romantically involved with a Japanese actress.

"It's a beautiful story and will be very different than the first film," said Showbiz411's source.

It would have to be, otherwise this movie would be another failure. I saw the first film with my brother and was extremely underwhelmed. The only positive thing about it is that it's so easy to make fun of. Hopefully this one won't contain about a dozen different characters that all make about 3 minute long cameos in the movie.

Hardly a surprise, Hugh Jackman has done several interviews saying he wanted the 2nd film to follow the 'Japan Story' Hopefully the makers learn from their mistakes and make this the great movie it could be.

As one of the three people who actually really enjoyed Wolverine Origins (except for, you know, the not-Deadpool thing), I am quite looking forward to this.
I guess I'm the second of those three people haha

I hope by "Very different from the first film." they mean "Unlike the first film in every conceivable way." because Origins was just awful, even the CG was sub-par.

I'm not sure what to think about this. I've not been born into a generation where comics were particularly easy to get into (or find, for that matter), considering that the number of them was staggering. This means I've not come across this Japan story, which means I can't comment on the quality.

I've never seen the first Origins movie either. I've seen the X-Men trilogy, however, and oddly enough, I liked the third quite a bit more than the other two, though that's not to say I couldn't pick many flaws out of it. Considering how hated the third movie is as well as the Origins movie, I can't help but wonder if I'd like it.

And if this new movie was vastly different than the first, would I like it at all? So many uncertainties.

What is certain, however, is that the "X-Men Origins" part of the title gets on my nerves a bit. Seriously, that part followed by the name of the movie's central character makes it sound more like an animated straight-to-DVD movie than a theatrical release.

Well i'm slightly excited but after what they did with Deadpool in the first origins my skepticism meter is on high.

Oh thank you lord!!!

Can't they just call it Wolverine 2?
Does 'set in japan' mean there will be lots of jiggle physics and upskirt shots?

Or they could do a movie like X-Men Origins: NOT WOLVERINE.

The way the Origins series SHOULD WORK.

"It's a beautiful story and will be very different than the first film,"
That will be horribly raped for the film......

Xmen was ok but went down hill quick...stop using Ultimate for story and character design fodder.....its just.....crap....

Xmen mostly sucked...
Hulk sucked hard the retooled Incredible hulk was AWESOME!
Spider man sucked after the first one...
Punisher 04 was good War zone looked good but sucked.
Iron man was awesome.

Ge the people that did Iron man and I Hulk.....and never use the Xmen/spiderman people again...EVER!

I have a splendid idea: Why don't they just leave Logan alone already and focus on the Deadpool reboot instead?

Seriously, if they can't stop with the Wolverine movies they should at least use an interesting scenario. Like "Old Man Logan", for example.

Would have been better to have a Japanese setting as the first/only Wolverine Origins story, no? Personally, there's about a hundred Marvel characters with ties to the X-Men (ally, member, or enemy) I would rather see a movie on, including Gambit, Cable, Omega Red, Colossus, and Mr. Sinister.
Ya but if they use ultimate cannon that with bad film making, Omega Red will be a leatherclad warrior knock off with whiplash(ironman) like metal tentacles, Cable will be a gun nut with no charatcer,MR Sinister will get the gay treatment Juggernaut got a half metal outfit showing to much manarse and being utterly inept at everything.....

I hear that there was supposed to be a scene with Japanese "hostesses" but they're going to cut it because they think western audiences wont get it.
I thought there was supposed to be a Magneto origin next.
