I'm not sure to the first, but to the second, if you do work out every day alternate muscles. They need time to heal.

When you work out, you're pretty much damaging your muscles. As they rebuild themselves, they get stronger

I can tell you this now: come two weeks you will not be working out anymore. Trust me, it always happens.

Now defy my prediction.

1. They exercise similar muscles, but pushups are better and you don't have to buy anything.
2. It is a good idea to. But don't do the same exercises everyday, muscles will be torn and need time to heal.

Pushups mainly work your triceps and pectoral muscles. Depending on how you use the dumbells, they could be used to work a lot of different muscles. I suggest alternating muscle groups if you plan to work out daily. Also, never work out a sore muscle, great way to tear it.

1. There's a lot of things you can do with a dumbell, I think you mean a barbell, which is mostly used for dead lift or benchpress.

Pushups and benchpress work pretty-much the same muscles, mostly pecs somewhat triceps.

2. Best not to work everyday, 5 days a week is plenty. Do not work the same muscles on adjacent days.
