Who remembers this?

So here we are once more, World Cup time. Heavy police presence, public scenes of drunkness, and very bad singing to ensue. And that's just in my street. I am not really a big footy fan, but big events like this can draw my interest. One thing I really do love in life is music, I am quite an audiophile. And the World Cup brings is tonnes of the stuff. Unfortunately, while the quantity might not be lacking the quality usually is.

Now most footy matches have a musical flavour to them whether one wants to admit it or not. The most common song at your typical national football match in the UK is an old classic called "Here we go". Here are the lyrics...

Here we go, here we go, here we go!
Here we go, here we go, here we go-oooo!
Here we go, here we go, here we go-oo!
Here we go-oo, Here we go!
I forget how the second verse goes, but it is actually sung by the crowd (shit is "sung" a real word?). And as such is generally of low quality and thus won't be gracing the catalogue of iTunes any time soon. But sometimes bands and even the footballers themselves get involved in the catastrophe that is football music, and the result can be.... unappealing....

The official world cup music for this year isn't quite that bad, although that doesn't say much. Picking ones nose with edging shears is not quite that bad, but I digress. Here is the official crap music for World Cup 2010..

But still, as crap as football music is we are going to get loads of it lobbed at us over the next few weeks. Especially if England start to do well.

Does anyone have any favorites or does anyone from any other country want to post their own nations footy music embarrasments?

Ohh, if anyone posts The Spice Girls top of the world thing I will personally chase you round Good Hope, and round the Horn, and round the Norway Maelstrom, and round perdition's flames before I give you up. You will die a horrible death. Except for the Spice Girls, what is the worst and best of the Footy music?

This is the official marketing song in the build up to the world cup, anyone who thinks it crap is delusional, how could you dislike such a cheery happy song.

Its like Bob Sinclar managed to put the emotion "happy" into a song.

I actually quite like the K'naan song, it's one of the only songs i've heard which is associated with the world cup I like, most like you say are terrible.

May I ask, what is the OP into music wise?

Firstly, take me seriously [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.188253-Horoscopes-for-my-Escapist-chums] at your peril.

The op was just a way of saying that the quality of the lyrics sung at football matches is wanting. What would be wrong with a bit of Opera? Remember Pavaroti [http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x16jvt_nessun-dorma-pavaroti_music]? That sung at a football match would be epic.

Look, you can post any sports related aural disaster you want, but none, none will ever reach up to the dizzying, nauseating heights of the Glasgow Diamonds.

What's wrong with this song? What's right with it?!
Actually that's quite catchy. It's a bit like an early 80s bit of pop rubbish, and this feeling is enhanced by the hairdos of the cheerleaders and outrageous moustache of the lead singer, who looks like he should be staring in a Swedish porn film.

I like the world cup song for this year - has South African charm to it

Vindaloo is so bad it makes me laugh "we're gonna score one more than you" - oh wow that's SUCH optimism only one more? Also think the lyrics of it are meant to be basic so England fans can chant it during a match... even though they never tend to last long

I'm sorry, but there is no Football song better then "Three Lions". Ask anyone at a football match to sing it and they will.

Because it's empty, hollow, boring, plain and the emotion is just marketable shit.

I hate that "cheery happy" stuff. I've heard music with soul-filling happy, not boppy crap.

I remember the Ricky Martin one.... hilarious.
Hey they mister grumpy.

Your the guy on the left, which makes me the one on the right, which I think is meant to be a girl.... Oo

Hehe.... you've got boobs.

And bro, I ain't no scene kid >O my idea of a happy song is this;

Yeeeeeeeey!

CaramellDansen is the exception to the rule. I don't think anyone can't be made happy by that song.
Well now that is a good song and I'm certainly not going to take it away from you, but its not my kind of "happy", I guess its all about the experience you have with a song that makes it happy for you. I like my song because the first I heard it I was driving a "some" speed in a Merc SLK roadster I had "aquired" to get to a rave.

But we are men, so lets sort this out like real men do;
THUMB WRESTLING!

Bring it!
