I bought and played World of Warcraft and the expansion Burning Crusade several years ago, but quit. Now, I have a person living with us that wants to play, so I installed both the games on a new computer and set it all up, including getting a new battle.net account for it. When I try to log-in it comes up with this message: "There was a problem logging into this account. You may not have a WOW game attached to your account, or you may be logging into a region different from the one you created the account in."

I can't figure out what I did wrong or how to fix it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Did you try logging into your battle.net account and see what games are attached to that account? If WoW and all the expansions are indeed attached to the account, I don't really have any idea what it could be. I'd suggest calling Blizzard's call center, the few times I've called them, they've been very helpful. Besides, you've got nothing to lose calling the, except maybe a little time.

I assume your account was created before the switch into Battle.net, which might mean that it doesn't recognize that you own WoW and Burning Crusade. I think you might be able to attach the game to your account, although I'm not sure how.

They aren't attached to the account and when I type in the access code it says they're already in use.

Well, that explains why you can't log into the game. I don't suppose you happen to remember your old account name and password, do you? If you don't, I don't see any other way than calling Blizzard's callcenter and talk with them about it, explaining what has happened. It might not work, but it's worth a shot, and it's really your only chance as far as I can see.

I've tried logging into my old account and the same message pops up.

What about logging into the battle.net account with your old account, if that's possible? It might be that WoW is not attached there either, seeing as you get the same message. At least that's what it sounds like.

I'm not really an expert or anything on this though, I'm only telling you what I would have tried, if I stood in that situation. If your old battle.net account doesn't have WoW attached either, you really should try and call Blizzard. Unless you want to go out and buy a new copy of the game I don't really see any other way.

I logged onto my old battle.net and I see that it's on there as a game I own! When I try to merge the game, I can't do it. I couldn't remember my password so I went to "can't remember your password?" thing and I when I filled it out it said the World of Warcraft was already merged.
