Hey all.

As this title states, I want you to discuss the worst A.I you have seen in a game.

Im going to go with Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising.

I saw it at my friends house and its damn terible, everyone will prone randomly, the enemies will randomly circle strafe you and not shoot, and your allies seem to be attracted to corners and will stare at them for 10 MINUTES.Also Im sure I saw an enemy jeep mow down 4 other enemies. Also enemies will shoot from a distance but if you run up to them it takes them about 15 seconds to shoot you, and they miss every shot.

It was hilarious though.

I 100% do not not agree with you sir.

I can't tel you how many times the Ai has fucked that game up for me, and what makes it worse is you don't have the control you did in Elite or Cold War Crisis. I remember I could outfit the AI with satchel charges, then instuct them to place it exactly where I want them to put it, how long they can set the timer for, then tell them to follw me, escape, and watch teh fireworks without any problems. And in Dragon rising, the AI has a problem with acknowledging "Follow Me".

Even though that's a damper though, I almost completely forget it when I see just how beautiful and huge the island of Skira really is.

You're winner!

And you must have the computer version, because we console players got the short end of the stick on editor. A lot of my friends on PSN think that Codemasters might release editor as a DLC though.

Um... Rogue Warrior. Don't play that game. Don't. Play. It.
You will die. That game will pop out of the CD tray, grow legs, walk over and grab the biggest knife in your kitchen, and slaughter your family.

In the .hack tetralogy, man are your party members stupid, you need to order them to do everything and even then they usually don't do it right or stick with it

and i wouldn't have it any other way <3 ^-^ despite the micro-management and acting like an overbearing mother to your party members; I love the game

WHAT!?!?!!?!?!?!?!!?!?!!!111!

...Haseo had party members?

(sarcastic comment about how effective party member AI was)

Kuhn and Silabus ftw.

*EDIT*

(noticed TETROlogy instead of TRIlogy...)

yeah, those 4 games may look realtime, but you need to do everything for eeeeverybody.

heh, most MMOs have horrible AI. Mobs that stand around doing nothing.

Saga of Ryzom (only MMO I've played that has any resemblance of AI) has pretty good AI, the animals migrate depending on the season, and if you are close to them...they walk up to you, sniff you, examine you...and some even pee on your feet/legs :p

Worst AI that I can think of off top of my head is World of Warcraft. Really, if you've played...there isn't much to explain.

Dwarf Fortress:
The only game where the logic goes "HOLY CRAP! I'm one fire! ...I'm gonna get a beer."

Alcohol explodes when heated in DF. Which usually ignites the rest of the alcohol in the store room.
So you have at least one dead dwarf from your store room exploding, and your booze is gone. Which will lead to more dead dwarves. (Drinking water slowly drives them insane. :D)

That and, "My best friend was an axedwarf, and he just died fighting a dragon. Awesome! I'm gonna run out there and steal his socks. The dragon isn't dead yet, but those are some kickass socks. And they're all mine now!"

I think more or less every game has bad AI...

Mercenaries 2 has terrible A.I, so does Oblivion and Operation flashpoint 2

conflict desert storm 2 after the first play through of the campaign i knew which enemy would be where and the best way to kill it snipe it knife it or use an RPG i finished my third play through with all objectives complete 100% accuracy and losing no HP at all on hard difficulty

and assault tech 1 battle tech some times ive seen my allies and my enemies walking round in circles shooting at each other and not hitting i got killed in the middle of one of the circles once and it was 30 minutes before the misses did enough damage to my fusion engine to blow me up and kill both the enemy and heavily damage my ally
