Would a right analog stick have saved the PSP?

The main reason I bought a PSP was the fact that I could play nearly identical home console games on the go. The thought of playing a PS2 game on the go was nothing short of amazing. Full 3D games, ANYWHERE. Granted, I knew things would be changed and things would be sacrificed, (Like graphics, but I expected that and didn't care.) But the one change that really ruined the greatness of the PSP was the lack of a right analog stick.

When I was considering buying one, I didn't think much of it, figuring it would be counter-balanced by decent camera angles in-game, since, you know, the game is MADE FOR THE PSP. I was wrong. I realized that 3D games NEED a movable camera, and after playing Resistance: Retribution (which uses the face buttons as the camera controls. BTW, not a good idea.) I knew that nothing could replace the functionality of the right camera-control stick.

My question is, if a new portable system came out WITH A RIGHT ANALOG STICK, capable of full 3D games, would it be a good idea? Bad idea? Pointless idea? And would the company (Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, Apple, Sega, or whatever company you want) affect it's success?

I honestly doubt it would make a major difference. Current users would probably be happier and more inclined to buy a future psp, so it certainly couldn't hurt, but honestly i've never counted thumbsticks when im standing in the store staring at a device to buy.

I really want that second stick, but it won't happen for a while... at least not until the next PSP comes out.

The company that makes it would not affect the success of the system though: after all, look at the revolutions gaming has undergone in recent years. Sony joined the portable competition, and Microsoft made the Xbox... and both were successes.

I don't think that the PSP needs "saving" really, but it just needs some more oomph. A second stick would provide that.

I don't know why they haven't done it actually. Is it too late or something? Have they crossed the point of no return where adding another nub to the thing would be redundant because no games would support it?

I know there's a workaround where you can use a controller for when you are playing this thing at home or something though.

I've argued this before, I find the movement of the camera moved to the face buttons or shoulder buttons to be preferable to a right analog stick. Just works better for me.

To answer your question, it'd be pointless. The PSP and DS are fairly equal in terms of quality at he moment, a new system would not even make a ripple. It would probably flop and send the company into a downward spiral (unless it was Apple or Microsoft because they have so much money from so many quarters).

A second analogue stick would have shut a lot of whiners and FPS enthusiasts up at the very least. I never minded that there was only one stick, if I can play games on the N64 with one stick than this should be no issue. The PSP doesn't exactly need saving as it's doing just fine, and this year is a good year for the system. People think it's in danger or "dead" because they don't hear much of, well thank Sony's shit marketing and the retardedly massive popularity of the DS (no I'm not dissing the DS just to clarify). A second stick is nice but not entirely necessary the way I see it, had no troubles with my games thus far because the good game generally have programmers that know how to work around such limitations.

No you can't add a new stick in now as it would fuck things up royally. I really don't want to explain this for the billionth time so I simply will ask you to go to PSP is Go in the news section. All my reasoning for the inability to add a second stick in now is detailed through my many posts arguing with people who just don't freaking get it.

Also that controller work around you are thinking of is for Resistance Retribution which allowed you to connect a PS3 controller to the PSP and play that way. But...that sort of makes the whole portable experience cumbersome. Anywho if you want to know why they can't add a second stick read my posts written in that thread, hopefully you will understand unlike some of the thick headed people that tried to argue for a second stick.

God I have a good feeling I am going to have to revisit this thread and argue this issue for a good 5 pages...dammit why can't people just understand :/
