Okay. So let me get on the rant now.

I am a Pagan. And I for one find this to be bullshit.

Halloween is a sacred holiday. Pagan New Year, my friends. And this bullshit is what makes me hate America.

Let me tell you, I'm done defending the intelligence of this country if no one can follow our own Freedom of Religion bit. Fucking hell, I can't even think straight right now in regards to this. Someone, please post a better rant. I don't even have words. There ARE no words....

How is one religious group's decision to have and promote a separate, sanitized (i.e. boring) version of a holiday violating Freedom of Religion?

Oh right, it isn't. Either you posted the wrong article, or I've slipped into an alternate reality where "Freedom of Religion" means "everyone has to respect my religion".

Or maybe it's opposite day? It's either one of those or you're exactly what you seem to be angry about. Either way, the U.S. Constitution says you can "QQ MOAR PLZ", because it's their right to have, promote, and observe boring holidays.

Christians have always been doing this, where have you been?

Besides, the holiday is commercialized in the US, so it doesnt really matter waht they say, its not going to stop kids from getting candy for free.

besides, they're not saying dont celebrate, just its an alternative. Just like how you can do any of the alternative things during christmas/easter and such.

EDIT: besides, everything has been said in the article already:

I'm kind of just... I don't know. I haven't been feeling well today and my mind's just blank. I think I'm just pissed that this bullshit is being glamorized. I'm not saying that Christians are assholes, I'm saying that people who are trying this bullshit are assholes. My apologies for any wrong phrasing, but I'm kinda pulling a blank.

It's a small voice appealing to its core demographic and not much else. If you're also not aware, most of Christian holidays are hijackings of other celebrations. Let it go.
I'll agree with that, my friend. I shall agree with that.

If you think bullshit like this is exclusive to America, even as an American, you're as blind as the idiots you're quoting. Stupidity knows no borders. Didn't EU recently ban children from blowing up balloons as a health risk or something? I know I saw that thread somewhere else around here.

Point is, take it for what it's worth to you: nothing.

How about we agree that every country is stupid and work with that? I'd go with it. XD

Next time, keep the Constitution out of it. It didn't do anything to you to deserve being flashed around like some incorrect show pony.

Umm, you hate American? According to the article that's Canada, Calgary even, the city where I live. Now obviously Canada is part of North America, but we've gotten kind of used to people meaning good ol' US of A when they say 'Merica!!1!.

And I wouldn't worry, something that silly wont catch on.

I think you've just established that you're not really an ideal person for that task anyways, so don't worry about it.

Meh, it's alright, let the religious weirdo's have their thing, all the normal people will still celebrate the all hallows eve and love it.

I'm into halloween for the possibility of awesome costumes, candy, and the general spookiness of it all. Love it.

BACK TO THE B-HORROR MOVIES! YEAH!!!

Point taken. I won't make that mistake next time.

All Souls day and all saints day... apparently this group never heard of them.

Anyways, lots of Christians think Halloween is evil because of Pagans. Never mind that the modern incarnation is as close to the ancient pagan tradition as commercial Christmas is to religious Christmas. Funnily enough that's why all souls and all saints day exist, to cover that holiday. Yet they still have to try and remove it some more. That's silly. Oh well at least they aren't hurting anyone.

Again, my mistake. I'm having a bad day today.

As a Pagan (not a Wiccan - I worship gods and goddesses from the Greek, Celtic, and Egyptian pantheons primarily) my first reaction is "Meh, silly Christian group being silly."

99.5% of the nation is going to ignore these fluff-heads anyway.

I mean, it could be worse. They could be saying that Halloween is satanic or some other ignorant bullshit. I mean, they're still implying it, but at least they aren't saying it.

Also... isn't Saturnalia Pagan new year? Or just for the Greek/Roman gods?

...So if Jesus is in Halloween now does that mean I get proper gifts? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE candy but nothing beats opening presents at the ass-crack of dawn. Especially if the color scheme is now black and orange and, you're unwrapping gifts under the soft glow of a trio of Jack O' Lanterns.

Otherwise I don't care. I really don't...this was bound to happen anyway. It was obvious, especially if you're familiar with anti-horror houses churches set up on Halloween.
