Would Playing video games count as studying?

Just wow... I have no idea what you're attempting to say but it sounds either racist or politically ignorant.

On topic, unless you're in a game design specific course (a few do exist), playing games does not count as study.

I learnt a pile of ancient history from playing Civilisation and Age of Empires games, but at no point was I ever under the pretension that it was in some way for educational purposes. I played those games because I wanted to take over the world and chant WOLOLO respectively.

You won't gain valuable insights on angle/trajectory relationships by lobbing grenades in Call of Duty. Neither will you gain any sort of mental edge by knowing the difference between a wazikashi and a katana.

If it wasn't for the 2nd Assassin's Creed, i would not know about the Renaissance in Italy, so technically...yes :D
