Given the direction they are going, no. I would not want them to dilute the setting with some sci-fy contrivance.

For Far Cry 6, though? Sure. Go all out on it.

I was thinking, what if a drug or some kind of new tech was controlling some of the population? And after the first Far Cry, should we really have any sort of sci-fi element in Far Cry again?

Personally, I would really like if they did something like that but I'd like to know your guys' opinion too.
I don't care either way, as long as it's utilized well in the story. Shoehorning in a scifi element "just because" will probably not add anything to the story that I would consider positive. But if they actually take the time to incorporate it, sure. But, that statement isn't exclusive to FC 5, that's pretty much my answer to anything "being added" to a game. "as long as it benefits the story, and makes sense" I don't really have any issue with it.

I'd rather they stay away from it this time around. If I'm getting a game where I can shoot bigot Christian fundamentalists and invade and take over their backwater compounds, confiscating their "murica" second amendment gun stashes that I can then use to shoot more of them... I'd rather it stay as realistic as possible.

We have a sci-fi Far Cry. It's called Crysis.

A cool sci fi Far Cry would be if you were a time traveler, and you were part of an interstellar war, and both factions got trapped on prehistoric Earth, and used mind control to make dinosaurs in to big walking tanks with lasers and missiles, and... oh wait, the was the plot to Dino Riders.

It could still happen.

The only Sci-Fi I want in Far Cry 5 is getting the Auto-9 again as a cheeky in joke. And because I love that gun.

But supernatural stuff? Go nuts. We've had the tattoos in 3, Shangri-La in 4 and......well bloody everything in Primal, really. At this point it's tradition.

Now that doesn't mean I want to be huntin sadquatches n stuff, but some events that can't be clearly defined, that blur the line between completely rational and just weird? Sure, why not.

actually id like to change my opinion..

i remember an episode of torchwood where they investigate missing people.. isnt clearly aliens or some sort of monster controlling the group until you discover there isnt.. when the guy in charge is asked why they do it "because i like it".

having the group and town appear to be controlled by something alien, etc but in the end its not.. its straight up people being zealots

Did you mean more Blood Dragon? We could use more Blood Dragon. I think. Probably runs the risk of retelling the same joke and beating the dead horse though.

I suppose you could randomly comes across a crop circle or maybe have a very rare instance of a 50's style flying saucer abducting cows with a tractor beam in the distance. It would kind of fit with the whole 'backwater hicks' theme, but then again, that kind of stuff is more a Fallout thing.

Maybe just the crop circle then, nothing more.
