Shouldn't they get someone with a little more charisma?

I don't particularly have anything against Tatum, but he brings so little personality to whatever role he plays and Gambit has it in spades.

I also never understood the appeal of Gambit. Then again, I never understood the appeal of Channing Tatum.
Maybe it's a perfect match!
Na.. I think pretty much anyone who likes Gambit is going to at the absolute very least is going to have anyone else they would rather play the role.

I too would be appalled if I could really care about who plays it any more now that Disney has its hands up the marvel puppets ass. I wont spend money on it, Ill not watch it. So what ever Herr Maüs wants.

____________________________________________________________________

One thing that I find a bit perplexing is why people thing Gambit would be hard to do due to what at least as far as I can recall back was a borderline Omega level mutant. Yes he has a powerful ability , but the character has always been a prototypical RPGesque Dexterity based Rogue archtype. Relying on speed and finesse. Gambit also coupled that finesse mentally in being suave. That is the type of person who would wield overwhelming power with the surgical precision strike needed to accomplish a goal with graceful style rather than a big lumbering lummox war crying whilst flailing battleaxes.

So for narrative purposes he is going to naturally more conversationally driven than action driven. Lots of stealth oriented, lock picking, muscling toadies in dark alleyways for info type of narrative.

At least thats what the potential for the character brings. God only knows what abomination its transfer into film at Disneys hands would bring with the way they have painted their way into a corner of stupidly overpowering all the characters abilities into being ridiculously over the top.

Say what you want about Disney financial success with the property, to this day I would have to say the single best marvel film we have ever seen is the original Blade and it has all been a painful Roid raged butchery ever since. Why? Because it was made to be a movie, Not a live action cartoon.

I don't see it, any resemblance at all nor any reason based on previous movies he's been in why he should be considered, I like x men and it would be good to see a movie that doesn't have wolverine in it because we have 12 of those already and gambit is a good character but I don't really think this will work.

Hey guys. I might add that Disney isn't in charge of this clambake, IIRC.

Fox still runs the show for X-Men, which, arguably, is the main problem here.

Personally, I wouldn't mind so much, if Fox could prove it knew what it was doing. Why, you ask? Because it gives us more comic book movies. I couldn't picture Marvel (under Disney) releasing X-Men films with the same frequency, while still releasing all the movies in the Avengers universe.

However, Fox is competing, so we get more releases than we would otherwise. Now, considering the Fox releases have been 50% hit or miss, I say I'd have preferred quality over quantity, but there you go.

Wow, Cassel would be a really good idea. Kinda makes my suggestion of Timothy Olyphant pale in comparison, but dammit I still think he'd make it work!
Olphant is never given his proper dues (likely because he hasn't had a breakout role), but he is an amazing actor. Even when he's in tripe, Olyphant is rarely the weak link. I could see him doing well in role, although I'd rather pick him for a villain (he looks like he'd have fun with it) like Mr. Sinister or Bastion.

Have you seen the TV show Justified my friend? Because it's excellent and stars mr Olyphant, though it's never gotten the success it deserves, much like Olyphant himself.

OK, how do I put this in a blunt as possible statement?

And if you need a second opinion on this...

Nothing against Channing Tatum, but the man has the acting range of a cinder block. Try a little harder, Fox.

Also, I don't think you guys should be making any long-term plans with your Marvel properties until the returns for X-Men: Days of Future Past come in. Just saying.

Definitely on my list, I keep hearing great things about it!

As for my bid for him being a baddie...he just looked like he was having so much FUN on the set of Die Hard 4, you know?

While I'm at it, I'd love to see Idris Elba as Apocalypse, even though it'll never happen (since he's Heimdall).

I was a bit sad once I heard he had no french accent in the last X-men movie. I grew up with the 90's TV-show, his "mon ami" was nowhere in sight!

I have not personally seen a movie with Channing Tatum in it. But considering they want him because he is popular seems like the wrong reasons (yes, screw money).

Though I'd prefer to see Taylor Kitsch reprise the role for the sake of continuity, I don't really care who plays Gambit, as long as he gets played by someone. He is the best XMan by far, the most interesting, the coolest and the best with the ladies. His character has been crying out for a movie and I've been disappointed that he's been relegated to the bench for the main films.

I don't care who plays him, who makes or produces it as long as someone does it. I will watch this film multiple times, buy it in every format and pinch a still for my desktop wallpaper. Please. Make. This. Film!

Christ, peeps already be bitchin.

I remember when folks were all, 'not Taylor Kitsch, he's blah blah blehblah bleh blah blah bleh' and he turn't out alright. Hell, I had no idea Tatum was from that area, maybe he could pull it off. Lets face it, if anyone's got that squared jawed, built like a brick shit house look that Marvel likes to rock it's him, just gotta grizzle him up a bit, lil goatie maybe.

And the eyes, for f*cks sake do the eyes properly this time, GAH!
