OP: This seems...exaggerated, I think I'm going to stick with the publicized 16-30% failure rate(Still pretty bad though).
Tell me, what would it require for the poll to be more acceptable?
So essentially you are saying, "I need you to meet a set of extremely unreasonable standards before I believe anything in your poll."Amnestic said:At least 50,000, though that's still a drop in the ocean.jboking said:So you would expect game informer to poll everyone who has ever owned the system? Preferably? Yes. I would like them to poll everyone who has owned the system. I would like a detailed list of which version they had, whether it failed, how long after they purchased it did it fail and the response time to have it sorted.
Why do a survey if you're not going to collect proper data samples? They didn't even bother differentiating between Arcade/Premium/Elite consoles for those 5,000.
Preferably I'd like them to meet my standards. I recognise they're a bit high though. 50,000 and distinguishing which console build they had though? Not so unreasonable. Heck, which console build and how long they'd had it before it failed should have been a basic poll question. I shouldn't even need to suggest it.jboking said:So essentially you are saying, "I need you to meet a set of extremely unreasonable standards before I believe anything in your poll."Amnestic said:At least 50,000, though that's still a drop in the ocean.jboking said:So you would expect game informer to poll everyone who has ever owned the system? 50,000 people is unreasonable for a magazine that has deadlines and other things to do, like write articles. The problem with asking for the console build for me is it is essentially trying to state the obvious, MS is getting better at not making a fucked system over time. It still wouldn't defeat the fact that the other older versions are still in circulation and fucking up on quite a few people, it would just say that they are trying to do better.Amnestic said:Preferably I'd like them to meet my standards. Honestly, if you get the RROD, it's most likely your own fault. I only have one friend who's Xbox has ever died on him and he is the only person I know who lays it down long ways. [http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2007/10/xbox360arcadegallerymain.jpg] When you do that, it's more likely to overheat for obvious reasons. Also, most people who own Xbox's are young and normally young people don't know how to take care of electronics very well. That's just my theory, though.
Haha, the old mutilated 360 serves the purpose of intimidating the new one into not breaking downLord Thodin said:If my Xbox hits me in the head with a RRoD ill just put an AXE to it and then buy a PS3. I like that,
You: "If you fuck up, you end up like my other minion"
New 360 "Gulp, i'll be good. I swear"
You're telling people not to blame users who took one look at the console and thought "man I totally orient it in a way so it blocks half the vents!"Zac_Dai said:Don't make excuses for Microsoft.popdafoo said:Imagine if you never went back to any McDonalds because one you were at messed up your order once.CantFaketheFunk said:Still, despite the high failure rate, and despite Microsoft having the "worst" customer service of the big three, the Xbox 360 somehow maintains strong brand loyalty - only 3.8% of 360 owners surveyed said they'd never buy an Xbox 360 again. Before the 360 you never got this crap with other consoles.
Me and my brother have owned nearly every console made since the SNES and they all work beautifully still, even our old Xbox runs fine and we played that thing to death with Halo 2.
But my brothers 360 got an E74 6 months back and he looked after that console just as well as all the others.
I guarantee that there a lot of other people who have a similar story.
So trying to blame the problems of a terribly made piece of hardware on the user is bullshit and you know it.
