Xbox Live Offers Daily Deal on Borderlands Series

Your ticket to Pandora just got quite a bit cheaper, but for one day only.

If you had some Borderlands titles on your holiday wish list but your friends and family just didn't come through for you, Microsoft may be your new best friend. Today's "Countdown to 2013" daily deal on Xbox Live includes both Borderlands and Borderlands 2, and the Borderlands 2 Season Pass.

The debut Borderlands title is marked down to just $9.99, from its normal $19.99 price, while Borderlands 2 gets a price cut from $59.99 to $39.99. Both titles are offered as Games on Demand downloads, so you'll need a decent amount of free hard drive space if you want to take advantage of the temporary discounts.

The Borderlands 2 Season Pass is marked down from 2400 MS points to 1800, allowing you access four DLC content packs. Two of the story-based add-ons have already been released - Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty and Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage - and two more on still on the way. The next release will be Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt on January 15, 2013.

If you haven't checked out Borderlands yet (why not?), I recommend you get the Borderlands 2 download. The original was good, but 2 is great!

Personally, I'm waiting for tomorrow's Daily Deal where it looks like The Walking Dead episodes will be discounted. Still, this is a good deal for anyone who's interested.

I can wait for a complete goty edition. I'm very glad I did that with the first Borderlands after the dissapointing ending I was so glad I had Doctor Ned to immediately cheer me up and completely forget about it.

This reminds me of how dumb the ms point system is i'm going to buy a 1600 point card today and i already have 150 that will give me 1750 i only need 50 more but the price for a higher card is more money i don't have. i only have 20 and most stores in my area either sell the 4000($50) or 1600($20) no 400($5)or 800($10)or are usually bought out and my bank card doesn't seem to like Microsoft online transaction service. why can't there be some kind of 100 point version for like $1.50 or better yet make everything cost be like this 100 to 500 to 1000 to 1500 exc. why this crap like 125 160 240 and the like can not wait till that transaction system is ditched.

I will not be buying a season pass for anything. Its a foul idea to pay £35-£45 for a game and then be expected to pay another load of cash to get a full experience.

COD, BF3, Borderlands, gears etc. can all bite me.

Money grabbing parasites.

Can I as a PC gamer titter at you console peasant who can't get as good of deals? Borderlands GotY hit $7.50 on Steam and Borderlands 2 hit $30.

Okay, done laughing.

As for you peoples who are railing against Season Passes: It's extra content made by the devs after the main game (At least in the case of Borderlands). Why would you begrudge them extra money for time spent making extra content? Do you expect them to work for free?

I mean, there are certainly cashgrab type DLCs, but the Borderlands DLC have never been among them.

Microsoft offering a reasonably decent discount on some good games...What sorcery is this!?

Seriously though I hope this is the start of Microsoft getting competitive when it comes to pricing. They are really behind the competition in this regard.

Right in there with you. Let's throw tomatoes at them from our glorious balconies while drinking fine wine. AHAHAHAHAHAH.

No but seriously, Borderlands 2 is great. Anyone who's half a shooter fan should probably pick it up, it's a must-have. I also agree with Falterfire's point on the season pass. Yes, there are cash grabbing types of DLC's, but like it or not, devs do like to make money off DLC. Some are plain ripoffs, I admit, but Borderlands DLC has always been worth every penny, at least to my experience. Just recently picked up my season pass for Borderlands 2 when the game won the Community Vote on steam. Picked it up 25% off, didn't hesitate.

Captcha: never gonna give you up

Oh don't get me started captcha...

That's a good deal, but Playstation Plus gave me Borderlands 1 for free, and I already bought it on the Steam Sales for cheaper than that last year too.
