I looked up the source, about a quater of the 'why I signed comments' where clearly troll votes, like this gem:

I love restrictions. I want always online DRM. I want the game rental business to become obsolete. I don't want to let my friends borrow games, because fuck them. All I care about is my god damn new age console that'll blow everything else out of the water! Fuck the PS4 and fuck those Sony guys for catering to fans who care about their gaming experience. Fuck PC, that shit is stupid. Steam? Fuck that shit. They never have sales or anything. It's not as affordable as buying my games from the XBL marketplace. I love Microsoft and their business practices will be the best forever. Fuck yes. <3 Xbox.
In any case, it still seems like the rest of the fuckwads don't understand what 'DRM' means. There is nothing good about DRM. DRM is copyright management, pure and simple. Hell, Steam is awesome, but the actual DRM part is nothing more than the minimum sliver of bullshit some publishers demand be in their products.

No,people, Steam has DRM, but it is not DRM in it's entirety (at least not anymore). There are too many benefits to really consider the negatives, especially when steam offers you several loopholes to bypass what few negatives there are. Don't want to be always online? Valve doesn't say "Deal with it", they say 'Just don't turn off steam, then, or set up offline mode'.

You can have tons of awesome feature on your console/client that requires you to be online without demanding that your customers be always online for ALL your features. For example, you could easily say "Our console is always online, but if you want to lend a game to someone from the other side of the world, you both must be online". I dunno, that may still be a poor example, I'm just saying that noone bitches about always online services when it's clear that said always online requirement is just following the laws of physics (e.g. online multiplayer can hardly be done offline).

I think that this a black-and-white situation. Or, at least, what people want is a black-and-white situation.

Think about it - When the Xbone had DRM, and the PS4 knew not to follow in Microsoft's footsteps, it was an easy decision for everyone - The PS4 was much better of a choice in terms of privacy, capability, and price. What did the Xbox have that players wanted? Nothing... until they backpedaled and came to nearly the same terms. So now instead of black-and-white (or more accurately, light gray and dark gray), we have basically two shades of gray.

So yeah. Seems to me people aren't asking for DRM, they just want a scapegoat. We pretty much know how that ends up going, when we don't think about and simply blame the target we are given...

This was to be the future of entertainment. A new wave of gaming where you could buy games digitally, then trade, share or sell those digital licenses. Essentially, it was Steam for Xbox. But consumers were uninformed, and railed against it, and it was taken away because Sony took advantage of consumers uncertainty.
This is some of the most ignorant and foolish bullshit I've seen from gaming all year.

Lets just conveniently ignore how the comparison to Steam doesn't fit their rosy future.
(last I checked, Steam doesn't allow for direct game sharing, used resale, or even refunds except in the most extraordinary of circumstances)

Or how Microsoft couldn't get their story straight for WEEKS; providing ambiguous and sometimes contradicting statements about the Xbone. And this guy has the balls to turn around and blame the consumer for being "uninformed".

But let's just ignore logic. Clearly, it's solely the uninformed consumer's fault for not blindly buying into a system based on the flimsiest of excuse and false promise.

Microsoft and their business partners were going to launch into that "inevitable digital future", yes, but not the digital future they wanted.

To paraphrase Jack Nicholson: "You fucking people"

Steam for consoles wasn't necessarily going to happen, we had no guarantee that it would, also, it's easy to say that "oh, DRM isn't so bad; I'm always connected anyway!".

And then your internet goes down.

And then you are happy that you bought a game from gog that isn't part of your steam library.

My internet goes down from time to time and I still play my games through Steam. Hell I can put my laptop in Airplane mode and play Bioshock through steam.

I'm really confused as to why people keep talking about Steam like it requires a constant connection.

Edit: Forgot my OT part

Since this is online petition is it really supposed to be serious? I mean I remember an online petition a few years ago for Blizzard (no not a typo, it said blizzard) to destroy all copies of Skyrim for corrupting children and I recall that one being mostly signed by "Alduin" and the "Society against cruelty to dragons"

i'd just like to point out, many ( but not all, by any means ) of my steam games are simply managed by steam, and do not in anyway require the application once they are installed.. you can just click the application exe like any other program from the hard drive. I launch skyrim this way when i'm modding it to avoid the original launcher ( which breaks certain mods )

The thing I hate about trolls is not the trolls themselves, but their worst side effect. Everytime someone does or says something too stupid to be believed, I assume it's a joke, when it often is not. And when I think that, it makes me feel like a smug jerk for disregarding other people's ideas and views as a punchline.

...I could make that post as a response to several articles, really. personally I'm content with my PS3 and Wii right now.

Edit: HOLY CRAP I WAS THE FOURTH DEFAULT ESCAPIST IN A ROW THE END IS NIGH.

So they're not actually wanting the return of the DRM, but actually the family sharing and stuff, which were decent enough ideas.
Indeed, which if it was separated from the restrictions, would have been really good ideas.
Errr I mean FUCK these people! Are they really this dumb? God I'm so glad we don't have to be saddled with their dumb decisions!

Let's see: trolling or serious?

DARK BILBO, XBOX FOR MEN, Al, Russian Federation

LETS C WHAT MS PROMISED 4 XBOX1:

1) DRM (???)

2) TV

3) SPORTS

4) CALL OF DUTY DOG

NOW W/ NO DRM = BAD TV, WEAK SPORTS. I THINK WE STILL GUD W/ COD DOG (MAYBE) BUT IF U LIKE TV N SPORTS SIGN THISSS
There are some other pearlers in there which I won't quote here because they're a little too offensive, but suffice to say if you want a good laugh you should read the petition.

EDIT: In fact, scroll all the way down to the bottom and read one by 'Albert Wesker'. It's pure stream-of-consciousness genius that James Joyce would be jealous of.

Maybe Hitler was right after all. Eugenics perhaps would have fixed these people up. I cannot suffer trolls or idiots. Enabling Microsoft will do nothing good.

... Judging from what's actually been signed onto the petition, this is a trolling joke. Seriously, read this:

"I love restrictions. Who here can take that seriously?
