The journey from game maker to novelist
I thought he was a "Critic". Not a maker? When did he design a game?
He used to make games with AGS, and for the most part they were pretty fun.

So, it will be about a RTS soldier getting brought inton the world of a MMORPG?

If so, then I am excited. I loved Warcraft 3.

It's refreshing to see someone with intelligence, talent & humor get published in a world of Dan Brown wannabes and Stephenie Meyer fan girls.

I remember trying to explain that to one of my friends, who plays World of Warcraft. I was talking about how there'll never be a Warcraft 4, because in order to make it they would have to cease production of World of Warcraft, and let's face it, they're getting far too rich off of it. She countered by saying that they wouldn't have to, they could just adapt WoW to fit the new strategy game's storyline.

I then went about explaining in some detail how story is irrelevant in World of Warcraft (read: any MMORPG). For example, Illidan Stormrage, an epic villainhero who really deserved a good death scene in a proper game. Instead, you have hundreds of people killing him, dozens of times. It's a shame, too, because the Warcraft games have some of the best story I've seen, behind Halo.

Anyway, OT, glad to see Yahtzee agrees with me, and I look forward to Mogworld. Should be interesting, at the very least.
Blizzard disagrees! J Allen Brack said that they'd probably do WC4 at last BlizzCon.

And I don't think that just because it's an MMOG... that doesn't mean it can't do story effectively, as they showed to great effect in WotLK questing and the use of phasing.

One thing I don't understand though..

How does he find time for all of these things?
I don't think he works behind the bar at The Mana Bar (from what I gather he just does the quiz nights), and he doesn't have a 'normal' job that takes up 10 hours of his day every day! ;o)
