You Can Play Virtual Fighter 5, Chat up Cam Girls, in Yakuza 6

A two-player version of Virtual Fighter 5 will be fully-playable within Yakuza 6.

In the latest "games within games" news, a fully-playable version of Virtual Fighter 5 will be contained within Yakuza 6. Additionally, a new "Live chat" feature will let your player chat up cam girls. It's just like real life!

Both of these features are a part of the game's "Play spots". Play Spots are the side activities offered within each Yakuza game, and can be likened to going bowling with your cousin Roman in GTA. Sony had the following to say about the two new activities:

Virtual Fighter 5: Final Showdown - You can now play the latest version of Virtual Fighter 5 on PlayStation 4. There is a two-player mode, too.

Live Chat - A new play spot available in the Internet Cafe. By carrying out precise button presses in response to your conversation with the web girl, the conversation will get more and more exciting.

"More and more exciting" is a very... tactful way of explaining what cam girls do as the show goes on.

Other play spot activities include darts, karaoke and Mahjong, as well as a revamped version of the Cabaret Club, which has evolved into a strategic card game.

Westerners fantasise about going to stripclubs, Japanese folks fantasize about talking to cam girls. Truly a great way to showcase difference in preferences.

This will be prolly the first game that will offer a deeper gaming experience in its minigames and sidegames compared to the core game, as VF5 is deep as all hell.

This piece of news of fairly unusual and honestly kind of cool. Never played a Yakuza game myself and now I am seeing more reasons to change that.

That cam girl bit sounds fantastic. Yakuza games do their ridiculous stuff really well, so I can't even begin to imagine how that's gonna play out. As long as it's more interesting than the Hostess stuff from Yakuza 4/5, I'll be happy.

I wonder how long it'll take before someone gets triggered by the whole cam girl thing and starts screaming sexism. Thankfully when Japan hears this stuff, they just shrug and go back to making games.

When I first read that, I thought "Cam girls? Real ones? Is that functionality built into the game, or do they have a group on staff? Man, I'd love to see THAT budget report being explained to the publisher! 'Your department spent HOW MUCH on porn?' 'No, no, it's part of the game!'". Because while that would be a sign of rock-solid, absolute dedication to world-building, it's also very... I don't quite have the words to describe it, but I'm also not sure how I feel about it. So you have left me not only baffled but flummoxed, and in a quintessentially Japanese way.

I seriously doubt that was your intention, but well done, Sega.

I had tons of fun with Yakuza 3, 4 and 5. I heard that they're completely redesigning the combat system for this one.

Shame the series is a Playstation exclusive.
That's cause no one owns a XB1 in Japan.
Scuttlebutt is that this game might be getting a PC release. That'd be cool. Unless it was part of Sony's streaming only service for bringing Playstation games to PC. Then it would just suck.

PC is getting kind of bigger in Japan last I heard. I wouldn't be surprised to see SEGA release the first Yakuza on the PC first to test the grounds for later iterations.

Am I the only one who remembers that it's called Virtua Fighter?

If they would, I bet it'd do well; it's an interesting game that would breathe a fresh breath of air among recent releases.

A game where sitting at home playing video games and relying on the internet to pretend you have any sort of ability to interact with women are core mechanics?

Sorry Yakuza, I prefer to play games about things I don't already do in reality.

It's pretty depressing that the only way we get any Virtua Fighter stuff these days is through other games.

:(

If that's the case, they better do a decent port of it.

So... Is Yakuza becoming Saint's Row's spiritual successor now? Because I'm down with that.

Yeah I was wondering about that too.

Why not both?

Either Yakuza 6 is setting up to be pretty interesting in my book. I have heard good things about these games but never played em.

This is more than good news. It is the best 3D fighting game at present.
