You didn't have to do that, but I'm glad you did.

Ok, I should probably replace "hard" with "tricky."
Yeah, it kind of was .... I didn't get itthe first time I played because the first time I played a chromed up razorgirl and I wanted to experiment with the cyberware trait mechanics. So I never bothered going to the Talismonger. In every game I play I offer to Ku advice on how she can become the queen of Repulse Bay. Sucks ... I prefer Ku to Gaichu. I like Gaichu, I love his bonus quest, but Ku seems like a cooler would-be runner, to me.

I wish there was a way that if you killed Gaichu in that one level, that you could recruit Ku instead. Having basically a greenhorn, training them up, teaching them how to kick ass in the shadows ... seems like there could have been way more gold in such a character. Plus the bonus quest of actually deposing a monstrous metahuman underworld to install Ku as queen bee of the hive of it all would have been killer.

Not enough love for Shadowrun 'monsters'. So much gold there to mine.

Plus Ku has way more reason to follow you, to stay by your side, than Gaichu does.

There was this really cool animation in Amazing Spider-Man where Spidey would put his wrists at his hips and reload his web-shooters with a little sound effect to punctuate it; as long as Spider-Man's hands weren't actively busy like fighting or crawling, he'd reload while running or inbetween swings.
Thing was in that game, you couldn't actually run out of webs, it was purely an animation choice and I think it was pretty cool.

So so much of the original Perfect Dark had unnecessary details that added up to something I still have yet to see another game achieve within the genre. I don't know where to begin with it really.

The idle animations from Conker's Bad Fur Day were weirdly way more numerous and varied than any game should have the right to be. What a curious oddity that development team must be. There was quite a few other cool little features too, but they were not dependent on the player doing nothing for as long as possible.

In the Shadow Warrior reboot, if you press reload with a full clip, Wang does a quick ammo check animation. Or if you have the Katana out, he runs his other hand along the blade. It does add to a certain rhythm and kinetic feel the gameplay succumbs to.

I like that in Arkham Knight if you do the first Riddler race before his mission actually starts he lets the first key that you pick up count twice to Catwoman's counter rather then force you to find another key for it.

I also like listening to random thugs chatter about the most random things as I run around the city in the Arkham games. Their talking was always amusing to listen to.

In Arkham City I like that you can toss a batarang at Azrael only to have him catch it. The fact that you get an achievement for that is just a bonus.

In the game 7th Guest if you exit the game Stauf yells "Come Back!"

In Marvel Ultimate Alliance you can hear announcements come over the PA in Stark Tower. For the most part it's just background noise, but you get quite a few funny announcements. Like Johnny Storm wanting to wish the Thing a happy 65th birthday, or that Deadpool was last seen in the weapons lab and it just so happens that a small thermonuclear device has gone missing recently. It's a small thing, but it makes Stark Tower feel alive to me.

I like that the Easter Eggs that you can find in the Nancy Drew games are actual Easter Eggs decorated to fit the theme of the game.

I loved having my Pokemon follow me in Heart Gold and Soul Silver. I also enjoyed the fact that the more they liked you the more they would show it. Like by hugging you, or by doing something playful.

In Pokemon Stadium 2 I liked that if you played the minigame "Who's the Champion" mode with your gameboy game plugged in you could win coins that you could use in the casino. I also liked that if you had the Pokemon in your gameboy game that was in the minigame you could use them in the minigames. So if you had an Scizor you could use him in the Clear Cut Challenge mini game for example.

This is silly, but I kind of liked the fact that Mario would fall asleep in some of the games if you left it alone for awhile.

In Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide there is a distraught woman who asks you to go and rescue her baby from her house. You can refuse to give the baby back to her. I carried the baby through the entire game because I was certain it would pay off. It never did and I forgot about it. However, in the second expansion, Hordes of the Underdark, about half way through the game there is a small chute which you can stick the baby in if you like that sort of thing. The baby even gives a cute baby giggle on the way in and then gets turned into a highly useful spider companion. I think the game makes fun of you a bit too for carrying a baby around for a game and a half.

I bet that slipped through some sort of committee whose job it was to prevent that sort of mischief.

Have there ever been any games that added/had some neat small detail that you barely notice/wasn't necessary but you're grateful for regardless?

- The Blade Wolf boss in Revengance announces "Combination Complete" after finishing a melee combo, a feature that he keeps in his DLC Chapter where you actually play as him.

.
That's what I love about Platinum, they will almost always have tiny details in there games. Mad World as an advertisement for Bayonetta in the first stage (as the Gates of Hell; the bar Rodin owns). You can knock certain mini-bosses or stab them with hazards for extra points. The announcers will say many different things if you stick around long enough in certain areas or do something really spectacular.

Bayonetta 1 & 2 have unique idle animations for her and the unlockable characters in each game. They have their own little quips as well whenever you achieve a rank at an end of a verse. Tranfsormers Devastation as unique dialogue for each Autobot when going through certain sections or facing bosses.

Speaking of idle animations, that's what I like about Ristar and Comix Zone. Ristar has all of these unique animation to each stage. He'll fan himself if, you're standing around on Planet Scorch, or make a snowball in the first half of the snow/ice level. The latter animation you can use to fight the mini boss.

I 'kin thrive on the mind-reading humour found in Divinity 2:TDKS. It's only a small touch, but it adds so much to the game.

As does the excessive swearing Jaffar provides in Risen 2. It's not big or clever, but he just makes it sound so big & clever!
