Mass Effect: So many worlds, so many ways to die. Explore the wrong patch of desert? Get eaten by a Thresher Maw. Dig into the wrong cave with the wrong kind of artifact in it? It's a Reaper indoctrination device and I'm now a Husk. And even if you do everything right, there's still the chance of your colony world getting sacked by space pirates, which will likely result in being sold into slavery. Then there's Saren Arterius and his Geth armies, the Collectors, and the Reapers themselves. NOPE.
Ace Combat, Strangereal: I've spoken at length about this in the past. Sure, it looks nice, on the surface; but have you SEEN the number of wars that have cropped up over the years? The fact that nuclear weapons are so rare just means that the civilizations of Strangereal have decided to get creative with their superweapons: Inter-continental ballistic missiles loaded with massive conventional explosive warheads that detonate as a monstrous cluster burst? Incredibly large laser weapons of various styles and descriptions? Extremely huge railguns that were originally designed to intercept meteors? With at least one of those modified to fire a payload that breaks up in flight to unleash multiple cruise missiles? Not to mention all manner of chemical and biological weapons that are probably all too similar to those we know and stocked in far greater quantities than they ever were in our world? HELL NO!
F-Zero: There are still various kinds of supervillains, some of whom are actually allowed to race in the greatest motorsports competition in the galaxy. Apparently, the reward for winning the Grand Prix is enough to set someone up for life, which means that there must be huge amounts of marketing and other funding behind it to fill those prize pools. There's obviously severe corruption hiding just beneath the surface. Then again, you could say that about our own world, too, so... Still, there are said in some pilots' backstories to have been massive wars that scoured entire planets. One hopes that Earth is still peaceful despite all this... But even then, knowing the nature of corporate greed, probably not a nice place to be. NOPE.
Crimson Skies: No unified road network, which probably means it's a lot harder to get goods from one place to another. Not to mention the fact that there are pirates constantly attacking the shipping lanes... Oh, yeah, and those pirates are armed with fighter planes with all manner of bombs and rockets and missiles and machine guns and auto-cannons and... You get the idea. EVERY major power of note makes use of vast fleets of deadly fighter aircraft and backs them up with powerful zeppelin battleships. Fire rains from the skies every day, with a shower of hot brass just being the warning that now's a good time to get in the basement. MEGA NOPE.
