I've know about it since... The second grade or something? I can't remember when we covered that particular country, but I know where it is and what it's generally like down there. Not much else to tell.

The world is very aware of New Zealand. You're Australia's answer to the USA's Canada.
(partially joking)

Heard of it? I live here!

Oh, and the sheep-outnumbering-people thing; this is true of any farming country in the world, not just unique to New Zealand.
well do you have a flag?
You. You should be given a cookie.

No flag, no country! You can't have one!

Yeah, I've heard of it. I'm subscribed to xjet on youtube, which runs a bunch of lulzy RC aircraft stuff on an airfield in Tokoroa. Wouldn't mind popping by and flying with them, they seem to be a relaxed bunch that doesn't needlessly restrict what you can do with your own stuff, but I'm not going to spend 20-30 grand in travel expenses to play with toy airplanes.

Prior to xjet I knew it existed but that was it.
Actually it's about 5 grand for a week and a half, assuming you live in the US. 5 grand OUR money, so like 4 grand american. Maybe.
That include shipping a 68" wingspan aircraft and it's field gear both ways?

Still, even at 4-5K, bit much to play with a toy plane. But if I ever found myself going to NZ for another reason you can bet I'd grab something and make my way there :p
Sorry, I meant to fly over here and accommodation. Not to play with the planes (not a clue what that costs)

Being English, you have the sort of insects that would make me curl up in a ball and die of fear.
You do realise than is our ONLY insect right?
THAT IS ALL YOU NEED.

Keep it away from me.
But it's sooo cute! It's eating a carrot, just like a bunny rabbit!

What i know NZ most fore are actually the Maori. I wouldnt have thought they would be neglected so much.
Couldnt care less about rugby or lotr, but how can you neglect people with those awesome face tatoos(not everybody of course).
Yea they are the defining point of NZ for me.
Where did you hear we neglect them? NZ has the best Native race relations of any other country. Considering 200 hundred years ago (When NZ was founded) The Colonists didnt kill them all, enslave them, or drive them out. Infact today the Maori have a huge influence on how the country is run by the Govt. Not to mention fact that they are at least 40% of the population. They are given free tertiary education, housing and own sacred land for thier rich culture
Not to mention that they are the majority of the prison population, and the only people who have chased me down a free-way while high on P. Also make up the majority of the broken homes in NZ.
Oh yes. I didn't say I agree with it, infact with the way they act as a whole (Not individually of course) I think the leeway they are given is unjust and plain annoying. All this free stuff because they claim the colonists stole their land, when it was infact gifted and traded for

I visited there on a choir trip with collegiate men's choir of which I am involved. It was a three week trip, got to see Christchurch, Queenstown, Wellington, Rotorua, and Auckland, along with some other smaller towns. I shelved out the money to go on the tour to see Milford Sound when I was in Queenstown, and that was one of the best decisions of my life.

I love your country, one of the hidden gems of the world. It's cheap, beautiful, the people are nice, and the food is great. I have suggested to all of my friends and family to visit the country.

edit: I keep forgetting this is more of a multinational board than i give it credit for. I'm from the eastern United States.

Kiwi birds, sheep and Lord of the Rings. Also apparently you're romantically involved with Wales. [http://satwcomic.com/the-world/new-zealand] And that you and Wales had a baby and named it New South Wales.

But from what I've seen from LotR, you guys have really nice geography. C:

I WAS near the beach! I went to Murray's Bay Primary School for a while before we moved across the ditch.
Cant say I ever went there, I was at Browns Bay. I did however go to Murray's Bay Intermediate. Small world.

Shitty beer
You obviously haven't tried our wonderful craft beer. We have some truly brilliant breweries here. Some examples include Moa, Epic, 8 Wired, Harrington's, Hallertau, Three Boys, Wigram and Yeastie Boys just to name some of the better known ones off the top of my head. What awful commercial beer ruined you opinion of NZ beer might I ask?

Ofc I know New Zealand. And as to some people not know it exists. Well duh some people just are not interested or stupid.

On a side note I live right next to Zealand. Not New Zealand but "old"Zealand. Now did you know that place existed?
What you live in the Netherlands, Belgium or one of the other low countries, ow yes I am quite familiar with the not really obscure regions of Europe. Possibly Denmark? Maybe the United Kingdom, though why people consider being across the sea is the same as a neighbor is beyond me.
Zealand is a province in the Netherlands. So I'm not saying I'm a neighbour of New Zealand. I can just ride my bike from my home to "old" Zealand and back within an hour.

Ah yes, our backwards, semi-hostile (At least when there's a sport on, doesn't matter what one) Pavlova stealing neighbours. How could we forget about you <3

Honestly the way you guys talk about the sheep in NZ makes it sound like they live in the cities with us!! Good things about New Zealand?
-Excellent, varying landscape
-Comfortable climate
-Decent food prices (we might complain but after a trip to Melbourne, I realised we have it pretty good here)
-Small cities so travel time is minimal compared to other cities in the world

Bad things about New Zealand?
-High crime rates
-Drunk driving
-Domestic violence
-Child abuse
-Bit of a binge drinking issue
-Boy racers and their tackily modified Nissan Skylines, with spray can paint job

Ultimately I think NZ is for retired people and tourists who want to enjoy the scenery. I personally don't enjoy living here, although my opinion is skewed due to being stuck in Christchurch, which isn't exactly party central these days.
