Kids that are immature are usually the reason alot of people don't like going online in the first place; because they are told of these little kids butchering the english language while trying to play the game in the best loophole win they can.
It's the exact opposite for me. The reason I don't play online games is that I don't want to be seen as an annoying 12 year old. I'm not experienced at the games and I don't want to ruin anyone else's experience, so I stick with my nice single player games. Oh, sometimes I'll think that maybe I should try something like Team Fortress 2 out, but then the little voice in my head goes "that's really not a very good idea, you know." Of course, I try to stay very grammatically correct and I couldn't find little glitches even if I tried, but still...

Also, I have no clue whether my voice is annoying. Probably.
Well, not to sell you online multiplayer it can be fun, just make sure you go on during afternoons or early evenings then you'll get mature players. Though this is coming from someone only able to online multiplayer from the psp...
Hell, I am not an experienced player compared to some but I don't get discouraged by barely getting kills because it can be fun to interact. I don't think I'm ruining someon's experience unless I didn't know they just started online.
It's just like being on big forums like the escapist: You really don't know the person you're interacting with, yet you have a good time.

Sorry if I was bothering you...[I say sorry alot]

Well, I started going on xbox live when I was 12.

Thankfully though, I have a rather deep voice and am quite polite, so I was often mistaken for someone a lot older than me.
Life-stealer! I had that too!

The only time kids online bother me is when they're shining examples of GIFT; they realize that they are in a (nearly) consequence free environment and proceed to try to get as big a rise from as many as they can.

The voice isn't that big of a deal, and if it's particularly grating mute is just a few button presses away. It's the ones who decide "Hey, I'm going to piss every of of these peeps off! As soon as we spawn, I'm firing a rocket at my feet!" that need their consoles to blow up.

As a side note, I've personally been much -much- more likely to run across these GIFT-in-action on the consoles than the computer; I guess installing software is hard nowadays.

The voice has a lot to do with it. But it's also because generally they yell a lot, and they swear a lot. Basically they try to act like a bad ass, but they sound like such a joke. It's really annoying.

Generally, the young gamers I get stuck playing with are morons who don't know how to play the game. They piss me off. Vary rarely do I find a little kid in a game that knows how to play. They usually just talk about how awesome they are while simultaneously getting their asses handed to them and crying about how mean everyone in the server is. However, it is a lot of fun to mess with them. I don't hate all young gamers... just the ones with mics who can't play.

QFT.

Personally I generally only play online with friends, and definitely only voice chat with friends...

But in answer to your question - generally people hate them because they say annoying things. Lets be honest, voice chat with people is much like conducting a conference phone call with people. People you don't know. If it is too quiet for too long, it gets uncomfortable - people feel they have to say something and, generally, they can think of nothing intelligent or relevant so say so they just spout annoying rubbish until you mute them.

Young gamers just get more hate because the 'random' things they spout are even less interesting to older gamers than the usual rubbish.

Oh yeah, and they do it like banshees.
Why was i quoted for this. I was just saying when i was younger we did not have online gaming.
Quoted for truth.

I was just emphatically agreeing with your statement. Damn right we didn't have online gaming, and the gaming world was a better, simpler place without it.

I hate those fucking little kids, I'm sorry, "young online gamers", mostly for these four reasons:

1) The voice. ARGH MAKE IT STOP.

2) The fact that they get all worked up about little things in the game. "oh my god guys did you see that I totally shot that guy with a rocket while he was in the air oh my god that was so cool he totally exploded and I didn't even have to reload or nothing that was totally awesome right guys right guys right guys???"
They talk too much in general, yapping on endlessly about anything that comes to their mind. Sorry kid, I really couldn't care less if the teacher was mean to you in class today, I just want to play this damn game.

3) They discovered that on the Internets, unlike in real life, they can be rude to adults and get away with it, something a lot of them do all the time as a result. I never like being called a fucker or a *****, but if it's done by some 12-year old that's just bizarre and disturbing.

4) Being kids they are kind of... well, childish. They'll lose interest in capping the flag and will start singing a nice song instead, or playing a game of hide-and-seek in the level with their friends, and of course the minute their short attention span expires or when they start losing they'll leave the game, no matter if that leaves their team with one man short.

Obviously not all people under 16 on Xbox LIVE (that's where I play) are like that, but most of them are. And what the Hell are 12-year olds doing playing Gears of War 2 or Left 4 Dead 2 in the first place??

Because majority of them enjoy being a pain in the ass. I would know as I used to do it all the time when I was roughly that age. >.>

Well i have to say for me its the fact that they in general act like arse's, shouting & complaning all the time. But also the voice dosent help especialy if their american (no offence to you lot like its just the kids) i find it extreemly iritating.
But now & again you get a few sensible ones that you can hold a decient convo with, which is nice.
Mind you it wasent all that long ago that i was 12 lol (being 17 now) and i seemend to get on with all the older players quite well wich was helped by the fact that allot of people think im 30 when i talk on the mic now lol. and i think due to the deeper voice i was accepted better than any other "kids"

So I feel like kids today are disrespectful twats.
Agreed. But also because I was slightly scared of all the gruff voiced individiduals I was in a game with.

I use Mics now only if Im in a game with someone I feel I can talk too. I have quite a squeaky voice on Mic but most people usually dont get annoyed because I dont talk constantly unless im in the room with a friend.

I'm a young gamer and I just think anyone who rips on my for my voice is an intorelant (sp?) bastard! Young people play games, deal with it!

I don't know why some people think that all people with voices like mine are twats. Just play the fucking game! You can hate my voice, but don't hate me for irrational reasons.

most of them are extremely whiney and/or insulting. i have played with a few that were ok but for the most part they spend their time either singing/making noises, whining about how they lost/died/its not fair, or insulting/screaming at other players. when i was younger i didnt have a pc and their were no consoles that supported online play.

zomfg u r a f**king f****t n****r u r so gay omg roflbbq.

Yes, I hate them. It especially pisses me off when you get games such as MW2 which is intended for an older market (it is an 18, so from the rating at least) and yet idiotic parents go out and buy it for little Jimmy 12 year old who thinks he's 'teh 1337z0r' online.

Edit: Oh and generally hearing some whiny American child complaining about why he's getting his arse kicked makes me even less tolerant towards them.

I was playing L4D once and a kid joined us at the finally, when the second tank came we could have won but when someone accidentally shot him, he got angry and IN-CAPED THE REST OF THE TEAM, and then refused to pick us up, got slaughtered by the tank, and complained that we were bad.

Then he tried to friend me because I didn't yell at him to much, I try to be nice but its a bit annoying when someones childish like that, even older players can be childish like that.

If you saw it from our perspective you'd realise just how rational it is.
