I see a lot of people getting into religious debates here. Don't do that, people. This is a thread about lifestyle choices you haven't dared to be open about yet. Stick to the subject, please.
Isn't religion a pretty big life style choice. I mean whether you choose to believe or not and what you choose to believe can have a pretty big affect on your life, much in the same way your sexuality can have a big effect on a persons life. Wouldn't you agree?
Sure, I'll agree on that. What I was talking about was when people started discussing the exact words of the Bible and stuff that wasn't actually about how they keep their faith secret anymore. But I admit I'll have to rephrase it.

Though I'm not a Jehovah Witness I go to their churches a believe what they believe. I believe in what I learn and have never been happier with my region, but people really don't like Jehovah witnesses. Their the nicest people I know and follow the bible the closest then any other form of Christianity, but they cause a lot of flak if you mention their name. I want to stick up more for what I believe but I don't want to alienate people.
But if ypu go to their churches and share their faith, then doesn't that mean you are one?
I believe what they believe so, but I have to become a Jehovah witness through baptism. There are a lot of good reasons they do this, but mostly to keep their names clean. Jehovah witnesses have no priests, the witnesses do all the preaching, and pioneering themselves for free, and they only want people that know what their preaching to do so. It can take a while to become one, for obvious reasons, but they still open their doors to anyone who wants to come and will do bible studies again with anyone who is interested.

Ah, yes. The infamous image used to attack fans of the show. Do you really believe that all of us are as creepy and socialy awkward? Trust me, I watch the show. That's as far as it goes, at least with me ( and I'm sure lots of other people too). I don't own any merchandise or anything. I just enjoy the show. You got a problem with that?
With you, personally? No, I don't know you nor have I seen any responses from you before. What I have a problem is with the constant threads that involve the show or the fans. Also when fans hijack other threads. That is what I have a problem with.
Ok, yes. I see where coming from. I get annoyed by them as well. Lots of fans get annoyed by those types of people. But every fanbase has them, and most of the time they are the minority. I also get annoyed by threads being hijacked by ponies............

Speaking of which, let's get this thread back on the rails.

He's more talking about people debating on religious ideal and practices, some people suggesting negative aspects as well as positive, things that would normally cause an argument, which is not what he was aiming to do.

I know this image is getting an overreaction, but definition 2 doesn't fit. Just try using it a sentence, its like those I lost my faith in humanity treads.

"The fact that the Wall Street protesters are getting unfairly maced gives me a bronies"

or even

"All these adult men watching my little pony gives me a bronies"

You see it doesn't work.

P.S. this comment is just for fun.

I'm a Christian and I like BSDM. Figure that one out. (And no, I'm not the one who wrote the letter to Love FAQ).
BDSM is a very common fetish amongst the religious. It tends to be because religions just tell you to repress things that you're told are wrong or you'll be punished. The idea of punishment simmers in the mind and as your personality forms that becomes part of it. People keep their 'wrong' thoughts private and they also tend to keep their sexual practices quiet, they influence each other over time.

Because they repress their urges more, when they do let them out they tend to be more 'intense' and/or fetishistic than those of a sexual liberal. It's for this reason that states like Texas have a much higher proportion of paid membership to specialist sites than states like New Jersey.

OT: I'm a dom.
Note to self, marry atheist.
lol

I'm an atheist. It's also the only reason I'd have for wanting a religious girlfriend, so we can swap friends if you like.

Also, it's equally likely that the person would be submissive as they'd be dominant. There's no hard and fast rule for which way they go, that is a much more personal development.

If someone wants to be in my face about being a brony, I reserve the right to respond to them. Also, it's not as if I bad mouthed somebody for being non-heterosexual/white/my political beliefs. It's a cartoon that I insulted.
1. Nobody was "being in your face," like you're implying.
2. That picture doesn't insult the cartoon, it insults the fans of the cartoon. The text beneath the photo makes that clear.

So what you're implying isn't true, and what you're saying isn't true.

hmm...not to sure about that. I think Eastern Orthodox Christians would be the nearest thing to original Christianity.
Possibly, but in my area they do the best, and its never made more sense, I can actually read the bible know and understand it. I just like the way they do things, its a form of Christianity where the church is run by its goers not by a paid priest, it seems like the way things should be.
I hate to be petty, but the one thing I can't stand about is how they say Jehovah, because that is not how you say the name of G-d in Hebrew, but maybe that's just the Jew in me.
Yeah that bothered me a lot too. But a form of god's name is provided in the bible hundreds of times and it says that salvation comes through gods name. NO one has the exact way to say gods name, but Jehovah is close. Imagine if you went to another country and they couldn't say you name. would you not answer them if you knew that your name sounded different in their language? Or would yo rather them just call you by your title or sex by the rest of your life. god knows what we mean when we say his name. The name Yahweh is same as Jehovah in meaning which is he causes to become. God knows want were trying to do, even if we can't express it in words correctly he reads it in our heart.
Ok another thing I hate to see is when people type the name Y***eh because if you are religious and you know that name, you should also know that your not supposed to say it, type/write it. Instead, say/type the word Hashem. It irritates me to no end when religious Christians go around and say that name. If your atheist, fine, it doesn't mean anything to you. However if your a religious Christian and you say that word, all I can do is smh at you for doing so. The only thing more annoying than that is Christianity's claim that hell exist (bullsh*t that Christianity tacked on) or that salvation is through the savior (bullsh*t again). sorry I went off topic there.
I'm sorry if I offended you, I did not know. Again, I'm not a Witness and am still learning. I don't claim to be an expert in anyway, I just read my bible. Thnnk you for a topic in which I can study so I don't do it again.

I'm dating a girl who I don't think I like, but our friends pushed us to it because we seem so much alike, but I just don't like her that way. It has nothing to do with looks, it's just that I don't love her, and frankly, I'm not even sure if she likes me. The dilemma, I guess, is weather she likes me, as I don't want to hurt her. I have a date with her in an hour.

Yes i understood that, what I'm talking about in this particular instance is that we were, in fact, not high jacking anything, nor was that initial image aimed towards you to begin with.

I would be on your side in fact if a bunch of bronies were irrationally imposing and interjecting everywhere with the show and spamming images, but in this case that did not happen at all.

We were exchanging in a conversation, just between us two bronies (the conversation of which was relevant to this threads topic btw), that image being a part of it, and then you decided to interject and interrupt, it was none of your concern.

look at the religious conversations happening in the thread as well, they are having their own exchange of words, leave us to our own.

Ok, I never really wanted to admit this but...I piss in the shower (and the sink on occasion).
That should deter us away from religion and pony wars...Hopefully.

As for the other stuff; Transformers fanboyism, hentai viewer, wanker, atheist etc. I'm pretty sure everyone else knows about that.

If you dont mind me askig. I have never understood BDM, what is sexy about hurting or being hurt by those you love ? It just seems weird to me. lso I dont know much aout denomnations but are methodists the peope who belive they tlk in tounges or something ? I kno there are some groups who do that, but cant remember who.
I've more or less had this fixation since I was a child--being unusually interested in the parts of cartoons where somebody's tied up and all that--and I think I've figured out it's more or less about control. When you're helpless like that, somebody else is completely in control and you are completely out of control. Meaning you are free from making decisions and conscious choices, and they are free to make any decisions they like regardless of the consequences. So it's a way of thinking, really. I can definitely see why you wouldn't get it though, lol.

As far as your question about Methodists, I don't believe I've known any others in my denomination who believe they've spoken in tongues. I know some evangelicals and Baptists are like that, but I like to consider the Methodists I run with to be the Canadians of the protestant Christians. We don't like to get involved with controversies, we don't like to be terribly open with hateful belligerence, and we don't really take any rash actions to make anybody else upset with us. We just say hello and smile and go about our business. Of course I understand there are some Methodists who have done such things, but again this is just the crowd I run with. Churches function on a very local basis, so the values my local churches hold may be radically different from others in different places.
Yeah I dont think I will ever understand it, personally I just dont see how I could enjoy hurting or being hurt by someone I loved, also the bondge thing I always found creepy, becuase it seems like rape. Im not saying people who re nto it re rapist, but or me it just dosent sit right.

Well I hae no idea who I was thinking of, maybe it was pentecostals. I dont mind christians, its just when I had some knockingmy door with creationism leaflets, luckily I just wokeup and looked like I jsut woke up, so they left. A few weeks later it was mormons knocking but they saw my mothers cross on the wall and didnt bother too much. Idont have issues with christians who dont try and convert people or bring up their religion at any oppertunity.

I want to stick up more for what I believe but I don't want to alienate people.
I dnt want to get into religious debate. But... Uh... Have you read the Bible ? like God seding bears to maul children for calling a guy bald. I find that funny, but if I took it seriously, it would be entirely different. Or Moses and the angel of deth killing firstborns who did fuck all to anyone
Their are a lot of things in the bible I don't quite get either, but I am making my way throughout he bible and trying to make sense of some of those weird things. A big thing about studying with Jehovah witnesses is that they know that you need to ask questions, and sometimes just believing isn't enough. Not to be a dick either, but Their have been a lot of stories and scriptures altered in the bible since it was originally written. The king James Bible is the biggest one I know of, Its been altered in very big ways from a lot of the original scriptures and contradicts itself a lot.
Oh I know the bible is a collection of books, and has been edited MNY times. But still, cant see any context where some of the stuff would be good.

As or the thing about Jehovas and conersion, I understnd they want to convince everyon becuase they belive it will help them, but some people just dont belive, im one of them unless I saw jGod/Jesus without any drugs envolved I willnever belive. people who m seem like they want the best fo us, just push us away and make us annoyed. Its like my mother, she couldnt convert me after the 1st attempt, or th second. And shestill occasionally tres. Not realising it just gets more annoying.
I'm not a Jehovah witness, and don't understand it 100% yet but I can see how its annoying. But I'm pretty sure if you ask them not to com back they won't, at least not on purpose. But you have to understand witnesses like your mother only try to do it out of love. My sister who studied before I did, quite studying with Jehovah witnesses because of a bad marriage, now even though she did believe it let material things get in the way of any kind of religion. I will never stop trying to convince her to try studying again because I love her, but I will not force it on her, nor should anybody.
Oh I know she belivesin heaven and hell and wants to increase my chaes of the former, but I dontbelive in those things. It would take jesus himself or damn good evidence to convince me. Until then im happy with my god free and sinful lifestyle. (My mother is catholic, and the Catholic church thinks porn and masturbation are bad, so yeah much happier with my sinful ways.)

Its annoying becuase I cant seem to get the message acoss that I dont belive in God and dont care about church. I cant put t simpler, but its not gettig through. She hasnt tied in a while, but she still does on occasions.
Yeah masturbation is nice..., but wait what? Oh yeah.
Well I'm sorry she catholic, their very mean. I have a said to be catholic grandma even though she dose not go to church and she tries to say I'm going to hell for being in a cult. It nice when people who have lived a life of sin and don't go to church are now experts because its what they believe. Even though she knows I went to the priest himself and talked to him before I left the church to make sure I'd have no regrets, and had him look at me blankly for 1/2 an hour while I quoted scripture and he just looked at me blankly and told me that I just needed to believe. She doesn't know what shes talking about when she preaches at me, but I appreciated what she is doing. She is trying to do what she thinks is best, even though I think its wrong. It is annoying but know its out of love.
