I say old chap said:
Glad you are liking it. I think there is good merit in citizens adapting to guerrilla warfare to defeat invaders. Worked for the Spanish against Napoleonic France too.
I thought spain was with Napoleon because he wanted to destroy England?

But yeah geurilla warfare is far more superior to bringing down and army rather than building a wall and hoping the best.

I'm Irish, we don't join our army, we just wait for the enemy to invade and then we use Guerrilla Warfare until they realise that this country has (in the words of Captain Zap Brannigan); "No strategic value or useful natural resources and poses no threat to us what so ever" and they just leave.

I would sign up in a heartbeat. There may be things i don't like about my country but i would defend it to the end.
On a side note, i'm planning on joining the TA after i've finished my exams. I go to university in september so once i'm done there i will probably transfer to the proper army

I know full well that I'd be put up for treason just for applying to any military; I'd ignore commanding officers, shirk any duties assigned to me by these random strangers, refuse to use firearms regardless of the situation, frequently ask why our governmental leaders aren't just mud-wrestling instead of sending innocent people out to die for their petty issues, and I'd be openly telling these things to a recruiter while yawning and blocking out any response they'd have.

Now, if someone threatens a friend or family member personally, it's teeth, nails, and enough dirty fighting to cause a doubletake for anyone who knew me while they question, "She's a pacifist?"

I'd be happy enough to lend a hand, but my body being as weak, frail and unfit as it is - the Armed Forces won't bother looking for me.

I think if it got to the point that I was to be drafted into the army to defend my nation, the UK would be well and truly fucked already.

Slightly off tpic here, but i could use your help. I'm going ireland on a holiday and was just wondering where would be good to go? I'm quite interested in it's history and stuff like that.
Should have a look round the north coast, it'd be very nice with the weather we're having. Could try the Ulster museum near the Lanyon building of Queens University in Belfast as they had an exhibition on things such as the troubles and Irish history in general which is probably still there. Or there's the Folk and Transport museum at Cultra and the Ulster American folk park near Omagh.

That's if you're planning on holidaying in the North of course.

I'm already trained and currently in reserves. However, when it comes down to war....

War is almost the worst possible thing on this Earth. I think that whomever goes to war is morally a criminal (this includes me).

The fact that sometimes war is necessary isn't a point in favour of war, it's a point against us as a species.

So yes, I would pick up my rifle, don the uniform and do the job they trained me for. I wouldn't be happy about it, but I would do it.

Well, I was already in the service a few years back, and I'm pretty sure that if war came to my country they have a way of drafting me (because I can actually help due to my military training) if I'm not over a certain age. Not much of a choice there, but hey, I was in the navy, so I'd probably get put with the command echelons of a supply/resupply ship again. I'm also an excellent sharpshooter, or at least that's what my decorations say.

No, no I would not sign up. A country is just a place thats been hemmed in by imaginary lines by people. In reality theres no such thing as a country and I could care less who rules. Makes no difference to me. So long as I have my freedom it doesnt matter in the least to me who controls what.

A zombie or Nazi or zombie-nazi upheaveal would be about the ONLY things that would get me to sign up for military service. Call me crazy but unless theres an undead German slavering at my door begging for a face full of buckshot, I'm not going to go to a hellhole halfway across the world to try and make things better with a spray of bullets and copious amounts of jogging.

I wouldn't I hate fighting. War should be decided by a game of checkers, or chess, or even a friendly game of Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock!
