I am forever destined to end up on the team comprised solely of people who enjoy licking windows and writing with their own excrement. If we need to capture point B you can bet your wedding tackle that they're camping at A. If there's a jet or a chopper that needs taking out then I'd put all my money on our team's anti-air being sat behind a mountain or a building near our base, miles away from the action. Every time.

My curse is on League of Legends. Whenever I decide that I'll go middle and work on that, whoever I am always gets countered hard. Every single damn time. There will be the odd very rare occasion where I'm not countered, but 90% of the time I am :(

Freezing. All of my games constantly freeze, especially after I've gone a while without saving or after I did something hard without saving.

Fallout New Vegas freezes every 20 - 30 minutes of continuous play.

Mass Effect games freeze every hour or so.

Every other game I play freezes at least once per time I play it.

I can never be the bad guy.

It might just be that most "evil" actions are hackneyed in modern big-name games but even if I make a new save file for the purpose of being the biggest dick in the world, there's always some remorseless or heartless action that I can just never bring myself to do.
I've been noticing this sometimes myself. If it's for an achievement, I will find a way to deal with it and just instantly reload so I never have to think about it again, but it's still something that gets on my nerves.

Then you have stuff like Saints Row the Third, and there was this DJ who wants you to kill another DJ. Apparently he doesn't like her trance music ruining his gangsta rap, or something. My initial reaction was, "Well, why can't I just kill the gangsta rapper, instead?" I can't stand that sorta music and it'd certainly be the choice _I_ would make.

But where it really comes out is something like The Witcher. There is no way I can bring myself to be that much of a douchebag to female characters because I'm really respectful to women. I kept waiting for an option to turn around and slash up some guy who was being a jerk, or to take a woman's side in an argument, and it never really comes up. You either ignore them entirely, or take the guy's side, and there's no reason I should have to do either. For all it's touting of freedom of choice, it was ridiculously limited - not ALL men were pigs and scum. So I ended up never finishing it.

I'll tell you what really brings out the swearing though. Fighting and Racing games. The AI is so damned cheap in both of them. The AI can pull off all kinds of friggin' combos and I can't even manage half of them cause of either the length or it's those "forward, down, diagonal" gestures that are really hard to end on without accidentally jumping. And in Racing games the AI gets to rubber band you something awful, to the point where it feels more like luck if you win. So I've pretty much made the choice to never play them if at all possible.

RAGE, when I was given the BFG. I saved every scrap of ammo I could find, I even spent most of my cash buying ammo for it as soon as I got it.

The.utter.frustration.

OT: Grenades, landmines, claymores, missile strikes, nuclear strikes (Starcraft) or just explosives in general, I seem to be attracted to death by explosions.

Seriously, fuck explosive devices.

This is my biggest problem too. I am currently playing Paper Mario Sticker Star and almost all of my stickers are shiny because I can't use them since they're rare. I always end up not needing it...

The curse of BALLS.

Every game has to be beaten on the most punishing, unforgiving difficulty possible. THE FIRST TIME.

Oh definately this! Especially in RPGs! In Fallout 3 & Vegas my inventory would always be full of ammo, stimpacks, a certain amount of weapons & back up weapons! I could never understand how my friend could go around with the barest essentials and do the game!

My main other curse would be playing a game & really liking it but then after a week or so, playing it less and less and gets to the point where I play it again and its been so long I can't remember what I was doing and have to start again, to which the same thing happens! ,

Anytime there is a helicopter in a game from real experience all I think is,
"Nope nobody should hear anything now"
This especially annoyed me in the COD games.

In MMO lands, if it's a rare drop that can be sold I will never get. No problems getting decent nodrop items but if it makes money, no dice.

In party-based RPGs (usually JRPGs, as WRPGs let me customize the main character), I almost never play the main character, choosing instead to go with a side character that has a slightly different skill set than the inevitable "sword-wielding JRPG hero."

So what is my curse, you ask?

Whichever character I pick inevitably disappears from the party for a prolonged length of time, forcing me to play a completely different character than the one I'm used to. This almost always happens. I actually can't think of the last JRPG I played where the character I most liked playing as didn't pull a several-hours-long disappearing act.

(Examples off the top of my head: Kratos from Tales of Symphonia, Albel from Star Ocean 3, Jazz from Eternal Sonata... the list goes on.)
I'm usually the opposite on that because the main guy never disappears for a prolonged time. The problem? Half the time I don't even want to play the main character.

My curse is that I'm always the prime target. Always. No matter how many allies are nearby, no matter what gear I've got, no matter what I'm doing, BAM gotta kill me.

Also that I have awful luck. I maxed Luck in Fallout: New Vegas and I still consistently lost at the casinos in New Vegas. And no that's not because I'm bad at the casino games, I know how to play rather well. Also my luck with Plasma Grenades in Halo games wavers from amazing to atrocious. Sometimes I'll lob out a sticky at random and nail Elites in the head and kill whole platoons of Covenant at once. Sometimes I'll calculate my toss and be damn sure I'm about to hit that Elite when the grenade flies between its legs and does nothing.

Me during record:
"Alright everyone, this boss may look scare but in actuality..."
*insert game character here dies*
"God dammit..."
Seriously the Let's Play curse is the worst thing ever. It especially doesn't help that I have the habit of not saving so when I die I have to repeat a bunch of stuff and cut out footage. Each time I die and have to cut something out I feel like my hard drive is gonna spring legs and arms and then beat the living crap outta me.

The worst though is my lack of saving problem when

Your avatar is a perfect representation of me from last night. Let it be known that getting the Gold Ankh's in recording for Crash Bandicoot Warped was literally the worst part of the game for me, and I felt like chucking my controller at my TV. I've still not done the 6th warp room's Ankh's either. >.<

Luck.

It's either I've just given Lady Luck the best sexual experience of her life, or I contract Ghanaherpasyphilaids merely by casually glancing at her.

Examples:

1) Diablo 2 - When item hunting, a Hammerdin and myself (a Strafeazon) once did a Hell level Act 1 run. We got the best 2 handed axe in the game, the Barb set armor, Wizspike, the best Paladin shield, Blood Raven's Charge, runes Vex, Um, Mal and Ist AND Zon set Gloves. In one run. Out of two.

2) Borderlands 2 - Farmed the Warrior ten straight times. Only dropped 3 purple weapons/shields/relics/mods that didn't fly off into the lava or glitch under his dead body. And they sucked. And I've gotten things like the Impaler shield, 2 Volcanoes, Leech grenades, and my Slag Conference Call before.

Some days, I tell ya...

Same.
Yahtzee probably described it best by talking about how players can sit on entire nuclear arsenals while flinging pebbles at a giant robot crab on the off chance there will be a bigger robot crab around the corner

For me it's I have to make a perfect playthrough and this usually manifests itself as "Reroller's Syndrome" (tm).

Found mostly in games such as Fallout, Elder Scrolls, and Mass Effect which means if I've missed one single thing or haven't done something with a personally-defined optimal outcome I have to go to an earlier save or completelty reroll. Elder Scrolls in particular rub me the wrong way as I still haven't finished Skyrim despite rerolling it enough times to recant the entire opening verbatum or in Oblivion where I spent my first 3 days of play doing nothing but grinding skills on Scamps in order to achieve a "perfect" character.

Latest victim to this terrible illness is playing some old Tomb Raider games on Steam. If I've missed a single hidden artifact I go back and scour the entire level looking for it. I know I know I should just play the damn game and worry about 100%ing it on subsequent playthroughs but I know I probably won't play it again as I have other games on my to-do list so I want the first playthrough to be "the" playthrough.

I have a tendency to only make choices that will result in the best possible outcome. Playing an RPG in which every single choice I make can seriously affect the game as a whole and lead to an extremely fun, immersive experience? Gamefaqs that mofo to find out which quest endings will reward me with the best armor. I absolutely hate myself for it.

I'm also a compulsive reloader in shooters, I've been playing Pokemon since I was old enough to walk and have never once seen a shiny, I compulsively reload the game whenever something doesn't go right (e.g. being seen in Dishonored), and my nose always gets the worst itch ever when I'm right in the middle of an extremely tense moment.

I have this nasty habit of having trouble starting games, and trouble finishing them. It doesn't happen too often, but when it does, its brutal. None of the reasons are because the games are boring, far from it. I just...can't explain it.

There were many games where I get maybe a couple of hours out of it, but just stop right when it opens up. I can take me multiple restarts of the game before I finally get into the grove of actually playing it. For games like L.A. Noire, Dark Cloud, and Mass Effect 1, I always reached a point before stopping, and just never going back. Good thing for Dark Cloud and ME1, I eventually managed to go back (took about 6 tries in Dark Cloud's case) and beat both games, loving them a lot. Sadly, still have to go back to L.A. Noire.

The other problem is just finishing games. Technically, its not even about losing interet. I will usually reach a point in the game, where I may get stuck on a section that is particularly annoying, or I may have just gotten through one such area. I will stop, and not go back to that game for a very long time. It doesn't even have to be that annoying of a section, could be something like, "Man those enemies just wouldn't die" or "Man, gonna have to level up my characters". If I can't past a section, instead of stopping to cool off and go back later, I just cool off...but never go back. Current games like Castlevania, Devil Survivor, Dragon Quest 8, Lost Odyssey, and Catherine have been some unfortunate casualties.

The worst part is that I can pretty easily get back into a game (unless of course I have gotten pretty far but am completely lost as to what is going on, in which case I may restart it), all it takes is a simple grabbing of the game case. I just...don't do it. I know I will eventually, and I have actually been trying to remedy this over the years (to good success actually. No longer takes me like 2+ years to get back to a game).

My dad is the same way, so maybe I get it from him. =/

Edit: Oh, and I can NEVER be a bad guy in a game that is all about moral choice. Its literally impossible for me. I love to go on youtube and see some of the alternate choices, and usually I am pretty disgusted in what can happen. Like Mass Effect 3, pure renegade? Jesus, you are pretty much a complete monster in that game.

My curse seems to be the more I replay something after I lose, be it either failing a guitar hero/rock band song, or dieing in a stage, the worse I seem to get. Its like I slowly learn how to unplay video games as I keep failing, until I pretty much die instantly and then game over. And then of course RAGE.
