So the other week I met a fellow gamer at one of our dorm parties. He seemed like a reasonable dude and we got on fairly well. As the night went on us two and some other people decided to go to my room and play some Rock Band. As soon as they entered my humble dwelling, it became apparent that this guy was a person who turned out to fit into not one but two stereotypes.

He saw my collection of 360 games and said something along the lines of "Nice, you've got yourself a 360 to show you don't really care about gaming". Turns out he thought all consoles to be rubbish and that a true gamer only played on the PC. In other words, my definition of what can only be described as a stereotypical PC-elitist.

He then moved on to check out my laptop and saw that I had League of Legends installed. He said that LoL was not a "proper game" and that I should just uninstall it and get Heroes of Newerth instead. I asked him why I should not play a game that is not only free, but also one that I enjoy immensely. He just replied "Because LoL is shit!". This to me sounded an awful like what I had heard HoN fanboys to be like: condescending to anyone not playing their game, especially if they play LoL. Needless to say I did not appreciate this guy's company that much after this.

So what about you, fellow escaptists? Ever met someone who seemed like a cool and reasonable person at first, only to later find out that they fitted a less than charming stereotype?

Oh God yes. I was at a Call Of Duty tournament (I suppose that's really asking to meet the stereotypes though wasn't it?) and there were 2.
One being the typical FPS fratboy, there were a group of guys who after every kill would be all like "Yeah wicked innit bruv, Can't touch me, got skillz." but there was also the old school stereotype gamer, the awkward nerd who doesn't interact well socially but knows all the specs and shit of the game.

(Slightly off-topic, but the final came down to one of the fratboys and the old school nerd, made for an interesting match, but I think the pressure of an audience was too much for our nerdy friend, as fratboy won, despite every other person willing otherwise!)
