What do you think the pro and cons of porn are?

Are they a force for good?

Should porn be banned outright?

Should Alexis Texas retire from the game?

Just express anything. Be open. Not to open though. I don't and to know you extreme fetishes, you belly button lovers.
Pros: I like it and so does practically everyone else I'd imagine, though as with all "art" tastes vary. It's a good way to find some sexual excitement and release. It can be lots of fun to watch with a friend or 12.

Cons: The industry's got some shady ass shit in it that needs to be seriously addressed through legislation and enforcement. Seriously, some of the shit that goes on is flat out abusive.

Porn is not a force for good or evil, it's just base entertainment. It's like the sex version of the WWE.

Porn should never be banned, it should be encouraged and regulated. Banning shit like this never works.

Alexis Texas should make all the money she wants to.

The best kind of porn is the kind I write myself!

You know, its funny. Every time I see some of that weird shit, like Futa Liara going at it with Futa Elizabeth from Bioshock, I just think "Well...I didn't think it up or make it. So I'm actually not the worse person in this equation."

I think we all agree that the industry is full of shit. Mainstream porn as it is now does do more harm than good. Not just because it can teach people bad sexual habits but because it just doesn't work. Either you move on from the mainstream stuff. Or you become so desensitized from the mainstream stuff that you need your porn to be more extreme. Someone mentioned hentai and its current obsession with rape and NTR(part of why I don't watch it as often anymore). It's the same damn thing, they don't put as much quality into the animation but its all super dark stuff where we watch women and girls who are too uppity(not that they really are uppity but I digress) get taken down a peg.

Other than that as a heterosexual woman it's hard finding anything to be attracted to in mainstream porn. Most porn marked for women is oddly too soft. But with mainstream porn. Well, its not like I want to watch an unattractive female star, but I'm just not attracted to women. So the whole camera focusing mostly on the female star, or just her vagina getting rammed, does little for me. I'm also not attracted to a lot of the men in porn. In a lot of flicks its obvious that the guy was chosen just for his size because his face and body are nothing to write home about. Not even normal guy level(which is sexy btw,it's why I like some amateur stuff) cuz it's one thing for a guy to not be super muscular, it's another when most of what you see of him are shots meant to only show his dick so its just a disembodied penis with a potbelly attached. Or better yet! If you get a shot from the back, which will be a close up cuz we got to show the ramming, so hairy, flabby butt cheeks. Or maybe its only the guy's face that is ugly so it's a good thing they never show it. Or maybe he's just way way older than what the actress is pretending to be. Even if the guy looks good odds are the camera won't focus on him. Or worse, sometimes the behavior makes him seem like a slimeball, which kills the any attraction.....I think I rambled there for a bit, but a lot of that is basically why sometimes I just rely on gay porn(apparently it isn't too odd of a thing for straight female porn watchers), which still has problems with race...which sucks for me because as far as physical preferences go I do like my men on the browner side of the spectrum and I'm tired of the racist chariacters.

Porn has it's place, but maybe it needs a bit more overhead to iron out some of the shiftier stuff.

When it comes to porn I'd PREFER anime and cartoons, but I'd rather watch real-life videos. Yeah, most videos can actually feel staged and fake and some girls are not convincing in the least, but I'd rather watch that knowing it's just fantasy than watch hentai whose kinks have fallen into two camps: depressing grim\dark rape or boring, bland vanilla.

Yeah, that kinda summed up hentai for me. Stuff out of Japan is oddly more... exploitative and objectifying than western porn is, and whats more fucked up is that it seems western 2D emulating those fetishes. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but fuck is it depressing.

I agree banning porn would never work, but I don't think it should be "encouraged", discussed, explored, and maybe even cautioned, but not like just given away to everybody.

By "encouraged" I mean it should be seen as a natural outlet for sexual tension instead of being seen as some moral grey area where people have to be embarrassed because they like looking at adult humans having sex (or whatever floats their boat that's legal.)

Nothing wrong using it for sexual health... and sexual health is important.
Maybe we should all stop being so ashamed of it.

On the flipside.

Some companies involved are very seedy
Pornstars do not have enough protections, legally/profession and sexual healthwise.
There is legitimate problems with using it. People will search for more and more deviant types of porn because their sex-drive is rapidly waning. People in their mid twenties are getting erectile dysfunction. Loss of motivation due to low testosterone. Corrupting the concept of intimacy, it's just sex for the sake of sex.

I don't think porn actors not getting benefits or pensions is an issue. Most jobs that require less then an hours training do not.

The industry as a whole is pretty shitty from videos I've seen, I recall a video where former actress Lisa Ann talked about racism. How not only was she, but many other rising actresses were told that interracial porn would ruin their careers. Once she retired she now started her own company and is trying to fix all of that. Of course other issues most likely exist that I have no idea of.
I've never understood why "interracial" porn is like...this thing that gets made into its own niche. It's the 21st century, not the 1800s. Not only that but it seems the actors are told to act like complete caricatures of black stereotypes and not nice ones, it's really unsettling.

The industry always makes a big fuss out of people going interracial and that explains why(Like so what? It's a black dude, why is that special?), I didn't realise there was such a degree of racism in the industry.

I must agree that it's great that we have women directing porn now as people like her and Johanna Angel are making strides to make the industry a much safer, cleaner and better place. They also seem to be better directors in terms of cinematography.

I'll be honest, both sides have equally fucked up stuff. In general I've always thought that Japanese LA porn was actually more sensual. The girl tends to be pleasured more, there's more intimate kissing, and it's much less aggressive. Japan may have some /freaky/ stuff, but western porn has more genuine violence, the way the actresses are treated sometimes is decidedly not arousing. If it's acted, fine, but actors will quite often choke or properly punch actresses and it's quite unsettling that it's just an accepted thing because of their job.

Has it been studied how common this phenomenon is? I've been watching porn well over 10 years, but my tastes haven't become more extreme. I watched porn, I slowly started to find stuff that fits to my taste and I'm satisfied with them. And they're definitely nothing hard core or extreme. Maybe you're right and someday I start to look for more risque stuff, but I find that odd way of thinking.

It's frustrating how hard it is to find anything decent. All I want is a man and a woman who seem to be enjoying themselves and are into each other, a bit of making out, and a nice balance of power where the flow of the act is determined by both parties. Unfortunately this seems to comprise roughly 2% of all videos out there. I watch exclusively amateur stuff because of this, and if there is a cameraman I don't even bother because that usually means they are going to be showing off too much to get anything that looks remotely real.

This has been bugging me for a while so I'm just going to list all the complaints I can think of:

-What is with the titles? They couldn't be less descriptive if they tried. It's all stuff like "lucky guy gets laid by horny blonde." That tells me next to nothing about the content of the video, and half the time they are just wrong. I once saw a video called something like "brunette girl screwed hard" that was about a quite tender session of lovemaking.

-Tagging is absolutely atrocious. Only the most broad categories are correctly listed. If you want to find anything more specific than straight, Asian, or blowjob you can forget about it.

-Stop frigging zooming in on the genitals! A penis going into a vagina looks pretty much the same every time, I want to actually see how they are reacting to the experience. This is like filming the exposition of a movie by zooming way in on the person's mouth.

-Let's have a nice balance of power for a change. 90% of the time it's the guy calling all the shots and basically using the girl as a cock sleeve, even when the girl is on top the guy is still controlling the whole thing. The other 8% it's a dominatrix slapping around the guy calling him a worm. I just want to see the girl actually move her own hips sometimes, and maybe move things to a position she'd like to be in once in a while. You know, like she's actually a part of the whole affair.

-I'm sick of all the completely hairless women. Women have hair growing all over, that's how it really is. Why is this such a crime that must be eradicated with extreme prejudice?

-Enough with the blowjobs! A minute or so is fine as long as the girl gets some foreplay too, but there is no call for 10-20 minutes of dick sucking before we actually get to any of the action.

-Facials. Pretty much every professional pron video ends in a facial and it is just... not appealing. That can't be fun for the girl, and it's so forced and unnatural to stop so the guy can jerk off onto her face. It's so weird how prevalent it is.

-The fake moaning. Oh come on, he just put it in, it can't feel THAT GOOD already!

And while were on the subject, let's rag on Hentai for a while too:

-Those boobs. How can anybody find those boobs appealing? THEY'RE HALF THE SIZE OF HER WHOLE BODY, WHAT THE HECK? It's impossible to reliably find anything smaller than volleyballs.

-Waaaaaay too much freaky crap mixed in with everything else. Tentacle beasts, bondage, rape, deformed boobs and crap like that. Probably 1 out of 5 pictures I'll see are actually repulsive and the tagging is too terrible to help at all.

-What is the point of a teeny little censor bar that covers roughly 3% of the real estate on display? Oh well, it's not as annoying as the pixilation censoring that makes the whole thing worthless.

Whew, that was actually quite a bit. Am I actually so far in the minority about this stuff?

My thoughts on porn,
Yes, I am single and use porn every now and then for a "release" and thus, do not object to it in general. Obviously, there are serious problems in the industry, but that could be said of any industry, but I believe in innocence until guilt is proven. Of course, I do believe the industry can be improved with international unionization, regulation and oversight. As for the actors, as long as full consent is involved, then I have no objections. I know there are people that get a thrill from exhibitionism, and if they can get paid for it, then more power to them. When it comes to usage, I try to find the Aristotelian mean, don't know if I succeed, but I don't think I use it too often.

Mmn, I think it's more along the lines of "this can be healthy as long as you use it in moderation and do not use it to cope with something else affecting you."

I have used porn solo, my partner watches it solo, and I have watched it with my partner, we both enjoy it, I have no issues with erectile issues or motivation due to lack of testosterone. If anything, our sex life is even healthier.(I question these results and the studies you are, I hope, pulling them from. I would say there is a greater underlying issues to those with that problem.)

We talk as a couple, and are happy. So, yeah... porn was useful to us.

Should it be used with knowledge that what happens in porn is not what will normally happen in the bedroom? Hell yes, but then this is what sex education is for in school and needs to be provided to all children, regardless of religion/beliefs of the parent: it is the duty of society (in this case, the governing body and education) to provide in depth, unbiased, clear information. This would help with the issues related to porn.

I don't think porn actors not getting benefits or pensions is an issue. Most jobs that require less then an hours training do not.
Umm, this says more about you and your opinions of the porn industry and the people involved in it more than anything I could say to counter.

They are human beings, working (regardless of the hours done - a stand up comedian does a few hours a night, would you begrudge them pension and work rights, hmmm?) and making a product that people wish to use. So they should have the same working rights as anyone else.

As a concept its fine. As an industry on the whole it can be dangerous, exploitative thing that often fetishizes really unpleasant things like racism, sexism, rape, harassment, paedophilia, incest, violence and a bunch of other un-kosher stuff. It can sometimes be difficult to console sexual positivity, whilst condemning the broader culture relating to it. That is to say, its fine for people to have really crazy desires, and what happens between consenting adults is none of my business. But at the same time, on an industrial level, I think there are some consequences to having constant negative imagery on our screens.

For instance, creeping, sharking, and harassment are all becoming a lot easier through technology, and the porn industry doesn't do anything to challenge this behaviour, instead normalising it and influencing people's perceptions about sex and relationships. It is so influential, people these days are getting weird concepts as to how sex works and what the human body should be like.

As for porn itself, no issue with it. Though the fact people can blame it for teaching how sex works, or in this case doesn't, shouldn't be blamed on porn. Blame it on the horrendous sex Ed courses in schools and parents not wanting to properly explain it.
That sucks.
Interracial porn is important as any other kind (maybe more as I see more and more mixed couples). People seek out porn that works for them and sometimes it's porn with a pairing that matches them. No wonder it is so hard to find what I have been looking for (which is NOT black men and white women).

1. There's a huge diversity in hentai, those watermelon-tits vids are actually just a hentai-fetish thing.

2. The little censor is because of japanese laws, and really weird ones. You've to censore something but apparently it's enough to have 1cm of censoring or something. I dunno, japan is weird sometimes.

I agree with all of what you are saying.
My feeling is I would rather there be porn that simulates rape or underage sex (without doing it) that people who are sick enough to be into that to watch rather than seek out real videos of that or to do it themselves.

If it's legal, above board and everything is consented then I'm fine with it. I even watch it myself, but a lot less than I used to now that I'm in a relationship. It's good to watch any fantasies that you might have which you can't act out in real life.

Women shouldn't be shamed as much as they are for it. They're in control of their sexuality and that's fantastic, as are strippers. If they're happy and the money is good then what's the problem?

Me and my partner watched Donald Tramp together once. We have literally never been so unaroused in our lives as that day.
