Yes I put a CoD game at #4 on the list, I thought Black Ops was geniunely great and really enjoyable to play.
All on PS3, I played them, but I doubt the console had much of an effect.

Penumbra: Black Plague
Deadly Premonition (Yes, I'm completely serious)

Only had a PC this generation, so here they are in no particular order.

Bioshock
Mass Effect trilogy
Super Meat Boy
World of Warcraft (I didn't start playing WoW until after Burning Crusade, so it counts!)
Dishonored
Dark Souls: PTD edition (I played with fixes, and later a controller as well)
Civilization V
Portal Games
Mirror's Edge
Trackmania Forever (The free one)
Crysis
Minecraft

Yes there are more than 10, but just wrote down the ones that came to mind.

Games I remember negatively (I usually won't remember bad games so these are more like games I felt were very disappointing)

Skyrim (Never have I played such a broken mediocre mess)
The Walking Dead (yes, that walking dead, the telltale one)
GTA IV (bad PC port, lacked the charm of previous games, and the god damn social network/going out with friends was the final nail in the coffin)

1: Batman Arkham Asylum / Arkham City - Listing as one title because they're pretty similar
2: Skyrim / Oblivio - See above
3: Minecraft
4: Orange Box & Portal 2 (Similar to #1, because I played about as much HL2 and TF2 as I'm likely to)
5: Red Dead Redemption
6: Dead Rising 2 (Actually got a lot of playing time out of this one)
7: Halo 4 (Actually liked this one a little better than Reach)
8: Bioshock
9: Borderlands 1 & 2 (Kind of grudgingly)
10: Diablo 3 (Very grudgingly. I logged a lot of hours in this game, but I think I'm more or less done with it now)

I have high expectations for a bunch of titles that I haven't gotten around to yet. Farcry 3, Dishonoured, Bioshock Infinite, Hitman Absolution, and a few others.

Big honorable mention to Sins of a Solar Empire. One of the more engaging and unique RTS experiences in recent memory.

Let's see... this is pretty much in no particular order.

1) Dark Souls
2) Demon's Souls
3) Bioshock 1 (now obligatory thanks to Nouw)
4) The Binding of Isaac
5) Lost Odyssey
6) Journey
7) Mass Effect 1
8) No More Heroes 2
9) Castle Crashers
10) Super Mario Galaxy

Games I haven't played that may affect this list when I do: Xenoblade Chronicles, Deadly Premonition, The Last Story, Ni no Kuni.

Future games that could do the same: Dark Souls 2, Killer is Dead, The Last of Us.

Batman: Arkham City
Just Cause 2
Portal 2
Fallout 3
Mass Effect Series
Bioshock Infinite
Bayonetta
999
Bastion
Starcraft 2

Honorable Mentions: Too Many to count. Especially indie games over the last couple of years
Honestly the 10 above are just the first 10 to pop into my head.

1. Skyrim -My most played game on this list. Vanilla game with DLC alone offers hours of fun, then add mods and you can get lost in this amazing world forever.

2. Mass Effect Series (I liked 2 the most) -3's ending was mostly fixed by the EC for me. An incredible adventure that I am so happy to have been a part of.

3. Fallout 3 -Hours of fun. I love how easy it is to slip to the depths of the raiders (seriously this game is so easy if you play as an asshole) but it makes me feel good inside when I am able to play through with a honourable character. Although I have made several characters who are absolutely vile and they're equally fun to play as.

4. Bastion -My favourite story of this console generation, my favourite soundtrack from a game ever, fun gameplay, beautiful visuals. It's the only game on this list that I consider to be truly perfect.

5. Dishonored -I was surprised that this upset Borderlands 2 for my personal GOTY last year but it's gameplay was amazing and the world was equally so. People often complain that this game's story is mediocre. I disagree, I think if you're willing to look a little deeper, you find a much more rewarding tale.

6. Borderlands 2 -So incredibly addictive. I have multiple high level characters and still am loving this game. The enemy variety is so much better than the first game. The story is too (Handsome Jack is one of my favourite villains now). Everything I loved about the original this game did even better.

7. LoL -Fun, competitive, addictive.

8. Minecraft -Hours of creative fun or survival terror.

9. Assassin's Creed II -Gorgeous and had a great story. Ezio is now one of my favourite video game characters.

10. Shadow Complex -Super fun gameplay and awesome exploration

Oh wow, that's a lot of games I have to choose from. It's been a really long console generation. This is going to be hard, especially since I'm really not good at doing top ten lists.

1. The Mass Effect Trilogy(2007, 2010, 2012)

2. Dragon Age: Origins(2009)

3. inFamous 2(2011)

4. The Walking Dead(2012)

5. Portal 2(2010)

6. Arkham Asylum(2010)

7. Borderlands 2(2012)

8. Brutal Legend(2009)

9. Shadow Complex(2009)

10. Prey(2006)... while it may not have been anything groundbreaking when it came out(except for introducing the idea of portal mind trickery before Portal did), it is one of my favorite overlooked games of the generation. It doesn't hold up as strongly and the graphics are horribly dated, but I loved the atmosphere and the concept. Prey is pretty much the Advent Rising of this generation. It was good, but not great and it has largely been forgotten about. And that theme song... oh my.

Honorable mentions to Bioshock & Bioshock: Infinite.

Well I did it... although I'm not entirely satisfied about the list I have so far(and I kind of cheated a bit with sequels). I might change it later on. Like I said, I'm really not good at doing these.
