Guess my list looks a bit like this:

1) Bioshock 1+2
Just awesome games, combining both an interesting and thought provoking story with awesome gameplay, great lvl design, and probably THE BEST atmosphere in a game i have seen in a long time. Also, who didn't shit their pants when they heard the first Big Daddy coming? i was pretty damn close

2) Simcity 4 (AND DON'T EVEN MENTION SOCIETIES! ruined the series )
Boy have i used a lot of time on that game... There's just something about seeing your city go from farmlands to skyscrapers and hightec industries, and when you actually make a city bigger than the one you live in.. absolutely amazing game.

3) Portal
Again, a cool and thought provoking story, great wit, and some great challenges.

Other runner-ups include: Red Alert genre, for its awesome humor, Oblivion, mostly due to its huge moddability, and a heck of a lot other great games.

3 - Devil May Cry: Fun introduction to Dante and his world. Love the in-game cut scenes. Enjoying watching others do combos I never thought of and then trying to replicate said combos (and failing). Overall, it just makes me happy.

2 - Manhunt: Only the first few levels, not a complete play-through. It's a twisted bit of fun to toy with the crazies, watch each detailed death and listening to Brian Cox taunt you throughout the game. Once it turns into a gun focused game, hate every second of it. Had to watch a friend fight Pigsy cause I couldn't stand playing through the gun fights.

1 - Shadow of the Colossus: Cinematic feel is everything here. Music, camera (though frustrating at times), design...*sigh* I can play this game any day.

Honorable Mention: Ico...great game and story, but going through some of the puzzles over and over again keeps me from really replaying this one.

*Ocarina of Time. I keep thinking to myself that maybe I'm just seeing it through nostalgia glasses, but then I play it, and I realise that it really is that good.

All for the reasons of atmosphere, exploration and replay value. All other games stay on my HDD for the duration of a normal difficulty playthrough.

Burnout 3 - I hate racing games I hate 'em I hate 'em I hate 'em. That is until someone got the brilliant idea to create a racing game that encouraged you to drive like a complete jackass. Then I couldn't put it down.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Yes this game led to an Igarashi induced shitstorm of terrible Castlevania games that refused to actually continue to established storyline. However SotN is still a brilliant game, the level design is awesome the bosses kick ass, the music is great. Even the terrible dialogue is terrible in such a way that it's actually a lot of fun.

Final Fantasy VI: I know VII is the one that got most people hooked on the series but FF VI is easily the best story Square has ever told and I never get sick of playing it.

Mass Effect series, HL2 and KOTOR. Maybe. This is pretty hard, since I pretty much exclusively play single-player games, with the exception of like, two games. I kind of want to replace Mass Effect with System Shock 2, except I like both equally. And then there's Deus Ex. >.>

1)Golden Sun- It's the first RPG I played ever, it's what got me into RPGs. The story is great, the characters are fun and the battle system makes turnbased combat bearable, and the puzzles require some thought.
2)Devil May Cry- Combat, Characterization and Setting. The combat is what draws everybody into Devil May Cry, the characterization of a white haired joke-cracking, cocky but lovable badass and the setting of a gothic world infested with demons keeps you coming back.
3)Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess- Twilight Princess has the distinguished honor of the first zelda game I beat without a walkthrough, and the first sidekick character I genuinely liked.
