Say theoretically, some random Timelord (yes I know they are all gone, bear with me) offered you the keys to your very own TARDIS! What would you do? Where would you go? What would it look like? How would you design the interior? Would you take someone with you on your adventures?

The ship in Doctor Who. Sorry I assumed everyone knew >< Anyway, it can travel anywhere in time and space!

I... Would sell it on Ebay.

Seriously though, I'd probably make like the doctor and wander about, picking up the odd sidekick every once in a while. It'd probably look like a simplistically designed mahogany wardrobe for me. Either that, or a DeLorean. You know, just for kicks.

Oooo.. spoilt for choice!

I would go back and watch as many battles as I could, and try to fit in a conversation with all the great generals, including those on the opposition.. assuming they could understand English.. babel fish anyone?

Then I would go into the future, see what's going to come of our existence..maybe a couple of concerts like Woodstock and such. Hang out in Parliaments to see through major decisions, re-live them.

... My tardis would look like a Lotus Exige but, of course, a lot bigger on the inside. I would do it up.. hmmm... like an apartment. Self-contained flat... could get a room-mate I suppose.. Oh, I would take my friends back to those awesome concerts as well... and maybe to the future, if I feel like it.

The TARDIS is also a really large translator. Everything will sound like it's in English, so you'll be sounding like your speaking they're language to them, but they'll sound like they're speaking English to you.. Assuming English is your first language.

Touche! ... Then I would go into the Future and traverse the furthest reaches of space to try find a babel fish (because I can)... or anything out of Hitchhikers Guide.

Mine would probably be a big wooden crate (with one side being a door disguised as part of the box). And I would check out all the periods of human history to see what really happened in places where we're still not quite sure (as well as verify the things we think we're sure about) what happened).

Then I'd go to the future. I would have the TARDIS keep notes on a decade basis throughout history (ie. huge text file with blocks of text for each decade I visit, noting major events).

Then I'd... probably die. I would probably leave the Tardis somewhere far in the future, in a place I know people live who will make good use of it.
