I know that some games are hard enough as is, but some people decide that beating Battletoads isn't a grand enough feat, though some can't pass level 1, and decide to Ironman the game without using warp points. I haven't done anything to that extreme, but I've played through games on a self-imposed restriction, and done it. So I was wondering what the Escapist community has done in the past? Mario 3 no lives lost? Mass Effect on Insanity? Anything beyond the minimum to complete the level/game/mission is fair, all ya gotta do is share it.

-Complete-
Gran Turismo 1- Entire GT series won with starting Silvia K's '88. Modified, yes, but still beating high end race cars was hard enough, doing it with something so badly outclassed was both painful and fulfilling.

-In Progress-
100% Dirt 1 Career on Pro difficulty

-Next Up-
100% GRID Career on hardest available setting to celebrate GRID 2's existence.

-Failed-
Warship Gunner 2- Complete a playthrough on Hard without R&D, without training, and going as far as possible with one design. Failed Hawaii escort mission three times.

I would like to direct your attention here:

http://boozeworthy.com/2009/10/22/grammar-nazi-your-vs-youre/

Just doing my job. Anyway, you know those 24 hour Endurance races on GT4 on the PS2? Yeah. I raced one of those. Full 24 hours. Then i figured out i could speed up time by 3x in Director mode or w/e, and i crushed it to 8 hours. Still long, but not as long. But yeah. I loved that game, pushed it to the limits.

I come up with challenge builds in Dark Souls.
Basically, I choose a theme for my character (tank, archer, brawler, mage, etc...) and then I think of the equipment to specialize with.
Some of the hardest builds I've made involve using one weapon or weapon type, or going without a shield, but they are some of the most satisfying.
Currently, I've just finished my Black Knight build (full Black knight armour, shield and great axe). It wasn't difficult, but it was fun. My newest is specializing in crossbows, and if you've played Dark Souls, you should know exactly how tricky that is.

I hold the proud honor of beating Super Meat Boy at least once on the light world.

Got to hell in Cave Story in about a hour. Didn't beat it, but getting there is rather hard.

Beat Mario 3 using only Warp Whistles. Power-Ups gained in levels were fair game, however using suits on the menu screen were out of play.

In TF2 I did a full round as a sniper with the huntsman on a server and at the end ended up with 20 headshots. Thus I am a headhunter with that.

Have you tried the Belmont build? Its actually pretty interesting, you should check it out.

Dedicated myself to getting all trophies on DeadSpace 1, succeed in that, did about 5 runs.

Like Asgaard i also gave myself Daemon Soul's challenge builds, only the original Knight Armour and weapons (allowed for upgrades) meant i had no range attack though so i couldn't kill the blue dragon. Also, the lack of a fire resistant shield Fecked me royally against the flamelurker, dear god.

I check myself in Wargame: Euro Escalation to keep the enemy score under 1000 points, done it quite a bit actually. I also try to keep my casualties somewhat low in Men of war: assault squad but since i'm the Infantry user of my group i usually have about 50 casualties. My teammate usually gets about 10 infantry casualties a game since he saves for tanks and support. He once got 0 casualties, we were rather proud of that.

In Halo i limit myself to the UNSC weapons only because i just prefer using them to be honest.

I'm currently attempting a solo run of Dragon Quest IX. I can't get past King Goresby, or whatever the hell his name is.

I think the only one I can come up with is that...whatever it is I'm killing, I want it to die as flashy or funny as humanly possible.

Finished Dark Souls with the starting gear, without leveling up, and without summoning help for bosses.
I died so many times.
Holy shit, I can't believe I pulled through.

I just finished perma death Skyrim run on its hardest setting as a stealth archer. There was alot of running and hiding.
Right now I'm not letting myself go further in Gravity Rush until I gold all challenges, which is kinda hard when I suck at gravity sliding.

My current self-imposed challenge is a 1CC of a game called Perfect Cherry Blossom. I don't even have to turn the difficulty up higher than Normal - the game is that hard.

I finished Ninja Gaiden on hardest setting on the Xbox it took me ages to beat Alma. I think I should get a honorary man card for that.

I finished Mario 64 completely all coins and stars also 100% galaxy 1 and 2.

I know WOW is sorted looked down on here but I killed Cthun server and battlegroup first and finished all all sunwell before the nerf.

I finished Dark Souls and I;m abotu half way through new games
+. (I know that's not that impressive but that game can be a ***** sometimes)

I play every game on the hardest difficulty as long as it's selectable from the start. Except for Oblivion because you would have to be mental or something.

I'm 3 achievements from 100% on Skyrim (It's not exactly hard but whatevs I'm proud of it)

I finished Alex Kidd in Miracle World on the Master System (it had no save function and limited lives)

I collected all normally available pokemon in pokemon Red

Finished the Mass Effect games on insanity didn't even know that was considered that hard.

Back when I still played CS:S I became pretty damn good. How good? I defeated an entire 12-man counter-terrorist team, consisting mostly of people of semi-pro level, all on my own. Before I finished buying my gear (sometimes I got picky) my entire team was already murdered without a single kill.

So I went Rambo on their asses. Stealthy knife kills, grenades, simply good shooting. And when the dust settled I was still standing.

Man, the rage of all those people who placed bets against me was hilarious.

Singleplayer though? Can't think of something to be honest.

Shit man, not bad. Looking forward to CoH2 right?
I'm pretty pumped. The little info we've got seems pretty interesting, and hopefully we're looking at another RTS with a heavy tactical focus.

I just hope we're not looking at another OF/ToV. God, how I hate those expansions. D:

Haha, suddenly your opinion is whole lot more 'credible' xD. Do you think there should be any changes to how the MP works?
