That's... kind of lame. I mean it ain't too big of a deal, the world still moves on. But it's still an annoyance whenever you want to make a comment with separate lines.

... Well shoot. Yeah, that's all that can be said. Shoot. :p

Really? They add an alternative for a feature that was already there, instead of... I don't know, doing something useful? Like adding a repeat function to videos for heavens sake.

Plus, I'm absolutely going to forget about that feature. I use enter often as a means of spacing out a comment, bleh.

Wait, are we talking about the 'Enter' or 'Return' key?

If it's the 'Return' key, short for "carriage return" which is what you press on a typewriter to make a new line (the key usually below the 'Backspace' key and a couple of keys to the right of 'P' and 'L'), that makes you post your text, then that is indeed stupid because that isn't the function of the 'Return' key.

However, if it's the 'Enter' key (the key on the bottom right of the Numeric Keypad with "Enter" written on it), that makes you post or 'Enter' your text, then that's OK because that's what the "Enter" key does.

Weird thing is, I´ve always used shift+enter on YouTube. I guess i never did try just pressing enter.
And even weirder: now shit+enter does not work. And that`s pretty lame since i often like to write long posts and more or less make a paragraph or two. But now... weird, very weird.

Also, this is the first Escapist thread I´ve found accidentally by Google Searching for something. Yay?

It takes literally 10 minutes to get accustomed to holding shift to write a new paragraph on facebook, I expect that it's the same controls on youtube. I think it's fair enough considering most comments aren't going to be much longer than a few sentences, and can see it becoming a standard on the internet.

The alternative is finding the little button that says post/save, and clicking that, or possibly hitting tab a few times and then enter. Just hitting one key makes it so much simpler.

Nope, shift-enter doesn't work, still just posts your comment.

I'm too used to pressing enter to go down a line. So now I end up posting a comment only half finished

Great more reasons for someone to slap their hands about on their keyboard replying to comments without reading them.

"Dragon Ball Evolution was awful, I'm surprised they made a game this bad off it"

"FUK U DBZ IS AWESOME ******"

^true reply there.

In my experience of viewing youtube comments, I think they should insert code that ensure that, as soon as you post, your computer fills up with jam. And not nice jam either - plum jam.

Fucking annoying, that's what it is.

I think I posted the same lousy comment five times in a row, trying different methods to endl;
I ended up making a .txt file, and copy-pasteing it in. Damn that shit.

Also, shift-enter doesn't work. Why, youtube? WHY?

What? I'm on Youtube all the time and I never noticed this. But if what you say is true then yeah, it's stupid. It's bad enough already not being able to edit comments and now having enter post it will surely add to retarded mistakes and stupid shit said that would not and should not have been said. There's no reason why this is necessary at all. It will only make things worse with zero positive effects.

It's annoying me already. I use paragraphs all the time.

Why did they do it? There is literally no reason for it at all.

captcha: oh brother. Indeed.
