I was just rewatching a bit of Yugioh the Abridged Series and it got me thinking about just how much better the first series of the show was. There was so much more variety to the action, and it was surprisingly dark. Also, Joey actually got to do things other than play second fiddle in trading card games. Okay, those things were mainly beat people up, but it was cool and he kind of lost his purpose once everybody decided they could solve all their problems with card games rather than violence.

Even the Manga got worse around Duelist Kingdom if I remember correctly. Not that card games aren't cool, but it's just kind of a shame the story underwent such a tonal shift.

Or maybe I like it more because it was like a secret, edgy version of the show that I found at the right time in my life. Hmm, I really should rewatch it one of these days.

Has anybody else seen the first series of Yugioh? What did you think?

I've read the manga, if that counts. I'm kinda disappointed they didn't keep the dark atmosphere, but the shift to card games helped make the series a big hit, so...

Which one was CARD GAMES ON MOTORCYCLES?

Meh. It has some interesting moments, but not enough for me see all of the episodes. I've read the manga and the parts leading up to where it all became about the "heart of the cards" or some nonsense like that. I prefer the series that was dub by 4kids, because DAN GREEN. Nothing further.

I stopped watching Yu-gi-oh after the first season of 5Ds and that crossover movie. I did see the recent film with the original cast. Fun movie.

I just kind of wish all problems in life could be solved by challenging people to really weird games of chance.
