Out of all the Zelda gimmicks (dual worlds, time travel, sailing) that defined each game, which do you think was pulled off the best?
Personally, Majora's Mask was had the best gimmick. Unlike WW where the mechanic was necessary but also endlessly frustrating, or TP where the Twilight Realm was quickly forgotten after the third dungeon or so, the 3-days mechanic was easy to pull off, very difficult for the player to botch up, and played a huge part in the immersing the player into Termina. The only consequence of having to start from day 1 again was losing all you deku stuffs, arrows, and rupees (the later easily taken care of by the nifty little bank), and there was even a notebook that helped to coordinate what everyone would be doing at any given time. And because it all took place across a 3-day scope, you were able to give the NPCs free range to actually go from place to place and mingle without having to worry about missing it for not being in two places at once.
