For me this was the best ZP video of the year, Yahtzee was so on point that if he was any more on point his bum cheeks would be rubbing up against the assassins hidden blades.

But I've been gone so long, I have no idea where the overarching story is. I really don't care enough to get back into the series.
There really isn't one as far as I can tell. After the third game and 2012 plot was wrapped up, they started hinting about a new plot with Juno.....but they've more or less just been treading water since then, either not knowing what to do with the future storyline or they just stopped caring at this point.

Maybe it's for the best, because nobody really seemed to care about Desmond and the people in the future/present anyway.

I like AC in general(even 3, for at least trying something different) but after Unity and this, I'm just kind of tired of the whole thing. I'm waiting for Rogue(for more boat action and to play as a Templar this time) to drop down a little more in price before picking it up on steam but that might end up being the last game I play.

The whole future plot hasn't budged much in 3 games at this point and while I do enjoy the historical tourism of it, I'm just not really caring anymore.

Yatzhee I hate to tell you this, but Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is overrated.

I mean that game is extremely piss poor by todays standards. Combat is bare bones and just reduced to spamming. Platforming has no skill and momentum and its all just timing.

And the plot, oh the plot, was nothing special. Despite the Prince constantly telling me how enthralling his story his.
He does kinda fall into that Nostalgia Critic/AVGN little loop were everything was better back in the day, doesn't he? The type of guy who would look you in the face and say Godzilla 1954 has better graphics and looks more believable than Pacific Rim or that compared to Gordon Freeman's massive characterization Commander Shepard might as well be a piece of stale toast on a white napkin.

But I've been making that same rant about Silent Hill 2 for years and Yahtzee has never responded.

Time period is important when discussing things like this. Yahtzee does talk about this sometimes in Let's Drown Out, saying that what he means by it is a game as good for the time as Prince of Persia and Silent Hill 2 were in their time.

Of course it isn't a side by side comparison. If both of you try and tell me games like Assassin's Creed: Syndicate are as good given their time context as Prince of Persia was given its time context, you better call in in the fun police because I declare shenanigans

So, because I was curious to see how the series has evolved, I went back and watched all the ZP AssCreed episodes, in order. And... it's really a rather sad development, actually.

What, the sad developement of Yahtzee not using unique and humorously pertinent music as review bookends anymore?
The sad developement of his voice changing timbre as it lost all the vain hope of youth and settled into the bitter concessions of middle age?

I feel like there should be an "/s" at the end of that post.

And what I meant was the sad development from "Play it", to "Assassin's Creed: Well, here we are again."

captcha: enjoy life.

I feel like captcha is taking the piss out of me now.

I know watcha meant ;).
Yes, 'tis sad the bloated mainstream rock star Ass Creed has become, and I enjoyed watching the gradual downhill run of it in those reviews.

I do miss the episode specific songs and the higher frequency of vaginal references of Yahtzee past though.

I must correct Yahtzee about the Vaults: in the end of Unity's story, they weren't fighting over a Piece of Eden in an Assassin vault, it was a Templar vault, since it was under their old Paris HQ, the Temple. And the Sword of Eden wasn't the game's main MacGuffin, it was St. Germain himself, because he was a Sage, and the modern day Assassins and Templars were racing to find his remains.
