You know, I'm surprised that someone who talks so much about how fucked up modern gaming is right now wouldn't like TW2. It really is a glorious game in the style of the older titles before Hollywood types got their hands on the industry.

Man, I eagerly await another video game crash. We really need it to get these consoles off the market.

It took me less than a minute to figure out the inventory/customization screen. It's rather simple really.

About taking the potions, well that's taken from the books. Except there he had to take them and meditate for hours to help clear the toxins from them.

It's a very easy game, I've already finished it on hard and it's a good challenge on Insane.

Well he certainly didn't cast this game in an appealing light.
What spell was it?The "this is a terrible game" spell or "this is boring as hell" spell?

>< its called lore, and the potion before combat is called RP. I know these concepts are not needed in consoles games where immersion is a joke, but in a truly great RPG then these things are a must.
So to you immersion is about examining an overcomplicated inventory/customization screen for half the game's duration looking for the items that have the highest numbers? Sounds like YOUR sense of immersion is a joke.
Try a console game one of this days... who knows, maybe you'll find yourself having fun.

To quote Yahtzee, do you remember fun? That feeling you used to have before games started to feel like a second job?
More than one weapon is overcomplicated?

Worst ZP in a while. Can essentially be summed up as "I think PC gamers suck and I don't posses basic cognitive functions or an atention span longer than 5 seconds". I know ZP isn't supposed to be taken seriously, but this one just rubbed me the wrong way...
Same. And the sad part is many people think those videos are supposed to be "reviews" and completely serious. Makes me sad.

I like how Yahtzee trolled the PC elitists and PS3 fanboys in the beginning. Really this platform war needs to stop, like right now!

So the man hates a game. It is his right after all. I'm sure a very slim few of the rest of the posters that disagree with Yahtzee have played all the way through games that they hate. If the way the game works does not matter to you than play Witcher 2. If Yahtzee steps on your toes because of his opinion (which by the way is a review, you cannot have a review without an opinion) then stop watching Yahtzee. But I am still in shock with how many people expect Yahtzee to agree with them. I mean, when has he ever totally agreed with everyone?

So that cutscene was skip-able (left mouse click), you do apply weapon upgrades from the inventory (you need weapons and armor that can take an upgrade), the world and its dark fantasy have been around far longer than Dragon Age (which is pretty much the only other dark fantasy RPG 'round these parts), the prologue difficulty was just patched a couple of days ago, the storyline is pretty amazing, you can actually use the wrong sword at a given time and still succeed, and all of the functions, ALL of the functions of the game are told you to you in little tutorial pop-ups that you can read and accessed AT ANY TIME. I mean I'm sure I'm not the first one to bring this up, but what the shit?

P.S. yea, preparing for fights before they happen IS much cooler and more immersive than chugging down unlimited numbers of potions in the middle of combat with absolutely no penalty **cough**Assassin's Creed**cough**

No, it's not. But I didn't complain about having more than one weapon. I was talking about games with unnecessarily overdeveloped menus with shitty and bloated design.
I'm not saying inventory systems and customization should be dumped in favor of only hotkey-ing the stuff that's necessary. They just should be intuitive enough so people can open them, quickly equip/drop what they do or do not need without the necessity of fucking around looking for the right sub-tab or whatever. It's the difference between dumbing down and streamlining one user pointed out earlier.

this is surprising avoided in Witcher 2, as you can always tell which weapon and which armor is better (you're probably think of the first Mass Effect, you know, a game that was out on consoles too). You do not spend much time in "menus"

oh and Witcher 2 is coming out on consoles pretty soon :/

Yeah, the UI is terrible haha. But it's easy to get used to, and since combat in the game is less about having the biggest numbers on your pants and more about skill and tactics than most RPGs, you don't really have to play the customization game if you don't want to. I'm playing on hard with no major problems and have a mountain of unused customization gear sitting in my inventory, for instance. You're generally fine with just going with using the talent tree and occasionally buying or finding better swords and shirts.

I don't think we'll get to see a laudatory post-review Extra Punctuation on the romantic liaisons you can pursue in the game, like we got with Anders [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/columns/extra-punctuation/8768-Extra-Punctuation-Roleplaying-Homosexual-in-Dragon-Age-2].

We shouldn't [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_8-Dwi_kGI], anyway...

But honestly, I don't think I have seen quite so much rage over a ZP episode before.
What gives?

??? Im sorry but "if you disagree with me your x" doesnt make an argument, that is unless you think EVERYTHING yahtzee says is fact...in that case god help you

anyway I dont see why people are all up in arms...its a ZP review..what did you expect? praise? he didnt like the first one (neither did I ) so yeah..he wouldnt like this one

Witcher is somthing of a love hate title anyway
I honestly don't know how your first para is related to my comment. You'll have to make that a little clearer to me.

TW2 fans, at least the majority of the vocal one's, expect nothing short of unadulterated praise for their game. Proverbially speaking, what yahtzee just did is equivalent to drawing cartoons of the prophet having butt sex with a pig. So this grand display of tribalism is to be expected.

Too bad yahtzee didn't play past the octopus bit. The game becomes mind-numbingly easy afterwards.

Witcher fans and Bioware fans, IMHO. There's sort of this silly ongoing argument over which game is the Once And Future Pseudo-Medieval Fantasy RPG.

Sup.

Haha I don't know about you but I died more fighting this guy than in the rest of the game combined :)

Oh and don't forget the perverted people who fapped to his review like some porn flick just to satisfy their egos and ideas of 'gaming choice'. :)

So a bad inventory means not having fun for you? Uuuuuu so ambitious! And some console game have complicated inventory/customization screens. I give you Dark Souls for example.

And by the way by console games you mean 2d platformers or fpp shooters? Because I'm sure it's not rpgs.

I laughed so hard at this review I got the hiccups for a bit.

Y'know, I'm also getting a bit fed up with the "dark" theme of RPGs. What spurred this trend of "every hero has to be a cynical jerk who seems to hate other people but still comes to their rescue?" Maybe this is why I like silent protagonists so much. I can pretend they enjoy their role as a hero, rather than feeling burdened as the only person in the world with the might and magic to stop really bad crap from going down.
