Why couldn't they at least act like they were zombies just to freak the workers out.
On the other hand they would then probably be molotoved,shot,cremated then the workers would be world famous as the first people to save the world from a potential zombie uprising.

One thing worse than a running zombie is a running zombie who is on fire, thus bringing it's fire to you to set your ass on fire while it knows on your frontal lobe
