........why?Arassar said:I know it's pretty much impossible to make something and not hit at least half a dozen tropes [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/VideogameTropes], but come on... ripping the levels straight out of Mario 64? That's just pathetic.Amnestic said:Originality is over rated, and almost entirely impossible these days.Arassar said:This is what modders do when they don't have any original ideas.
I have to agree with that, no matter what you make and how much individual thought effort you put into it, someone will point at it and say it was ripped off from such-n-such. However, it is the first publicized map for L4D based off another game, so there's a bit of originality there.Amnestic said:Originality is over rated, and almost entirely impossible these days.Arassar said:This is what modders do when they don't have any original ideas.
Adding zombie-fied little critters and man tall mutated insects, AKA rotting Pokemon? ;pAgent Larkin said:Going on your continued mash up idea I would love to see one of Zombies + Pokemon Arena.
Wonder what those cannons would do for that.... Or can you pick up a flamethrower there, maybe?LtFerret said:SMB3 Airships anyone?

I so want to play that. The Great JT said:This may be the best abuse of Super Mario 64 since I saw someone in one of my classes mod an emulator of the game to make it look like the castle was a log cabin and Mario was Abraham Lincoln.

Actually... yes, yes it is. Ripping a level straight out of another game sucks, period.Dooly95 said:So easy to be a critic, isn't it?Arassar said:I know it's pretty much impossible to make something and not hit at least half a dozen tropes [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/VideogameTropes], but come on... ripping the levels straight out of Mario 64? The point I was trying to make seemed to have missed the mark. At the risk of sounding like a child, "I don't see you doing anything better."Arassar said:Actually... yes, yes it is. Yes because he totally hooked up his N64 cartridge to his computer and through the magic of the Internet got all the artwork, textures, and level design to port effortlessly into Hammer. No wait, he built thatArassar said:Actually... yes, yes it is. After watching the video, I have to agree that it's pretty awesome.Midnight0000 said:It's actually quite fun to play. There are some things in it that surprised me, like I could bash my head on a floating block and break it to get a pipe bomb. There are some parts of it that are a bit empty though. There's a lot of wasted space, but it was still fun. Too bad it's only 1 level. I made a vid of a playthrough of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXY03hyGu44
Note: I'm not trying to "advertise" my video, as that would incite admin wrath. I made the playthrough vid of this level solely for people on the escapist to see the full level without having to download it themselves. If posting the vid broke a rule, kindly remove it - I think it's relevant to the thread.
Already lost a few hours thanks to this link.Amnestic said:How many hours of your day did you lose on the Tropes today?Dorian Cornelius Jasper said:Why did you link there?
