Today, for you:

Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat

Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat will be free on GOG until June 10th. It's actually part of a larger goodie pack called Warhammer Skulls, which includes stuff like wallpapers, concept art, a roleplay adventure in pdf, a book sample and the soundtrack to Warhammer 40k: Mechanicus. To nab it, simply go to gog.com (link provided above), scroll to down a little for the giveaway banner, and click that big green button to claim it. It should all show up in your library almost immediately. Also take note the game is only free as part of the pack, not separately.
Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat follows the adventures of Morgan Bernhardt, the commander of the Grudgebringer mercenaries and leader of the Grudgebringer Cavalry regiment. Once a star student of the great Gunnery School Officer Academy, Bernhardt’s love for gold and glory had him cast out of the school and into the welcoming arms of the mercenary life. With a fine steed to carry him to battle, his dwarven-forged, magical sword Grudgebringer in his hand and an army at his helm, he and the Grudgebringers have travelled the length and breadth of the Old World, bringing honour and fame to his house. However, an insidious plot by the Skaven Grey Seer, Thanquol and his accomplice, Orc Warboss Urgat Rip-Eye, is uncovered by Bernhardt, forcing him and his troops to defend the Empire. With Paymaster Dietrich ensuring that your efforts are justly rewarded, join Bernhardt and the Grudgebringers as they enter the maelstrom of war and fight for glory, the Empire and, most importantly, gold!

As the first ever video-game adaption of the Warhammer world, Shadow of the Horned Rat not only brings the table-top adventure to life in this real-time strategy, but adds its own story to the wondrous mythos. With over 25 individual troops to choose from, you can create and lead your own army to battle across the many fields of the Old World. You can also forge your own story in this adventure, choosing to follow the main story and defeat the Skaven and Orc forces, or accept the work of the many patrons Paymaster Dietrich can procure. With increasing difficulty and expansive lore, this adaptation is a fine first-step for the franchise and a must-play for both RTS and Warhammer fans alike.
Have a look if interested, and enjoy.

I quite liked both Shadow of the Horned Rat and Dark Omen.

I clicked on it, by itself, it is in my library and playable. Lucky me! Amazing that a game this old plays fine on my computer, but so many others, like Saboteur do not. (Can get it working with a ton of tweaks and patches, in Saboteur's case you're supposed to turn off all but 2 of your CPU cores. Think I'll pass on playing that one.)

Huh, weird, when I checked the game's actual store page to see if you can get it separately, it was listed for €1.29. Still is. Maybe a regional thing or something.

I actually discovered this game a couple of months ago, after a wave of nostalgia from Dark Omen on the PS1 suddenly washed over me.

Obviously im not entirely that this game will hold up at all, but still grabbed it cus free.

Eeeeh, I tried that a few years ago. As I believe someone else has said, RTS games have come a long way in the intervening 25 odd years. Terrible UI/controls by modern standards and a serious case of WTF am I looking at on the battle screen.

I would like toget hold of the old heroquest games, tried briefly on a ROM years ago but not been able to find an updated copy. Or the original space hulk, would like to see if 42 year old me was any better at it than 15 year old me.

Would also be nice if GOGs version of chaos gate ran on my computer.
