So obviously with the pandemic and all E3 will be delivering a lot of content to attendees online, and they've got their own platform for attendees to send messages. Someone's allegedly done some digging on their website and managed to find the words blacklist and there's some weird things on there.

Slurs and terms pertaining to religions, yeah those are no brainers.
The political things are similarly obvious candidates for blacklisting.
Singling out Canada and Canadians to not be mentioned is a bit odd.
I really have no explanation as to why they're blacklisting "Toejam" and "women rapping".

Heard about that, yeah. There's been an update on it, btw. The ESA has stated the list was for testing purposes.
I find it impossible to trust anything the ESA says, but on the other hand, banning terms related to Canada does not make much sense. There's better candidates

This explains the presence of Toejam than my theory, which is that Toejam from Toejam and Earl committed a historical sex offence and they're trying to keep it quiet.

I must be out of the loop, but toejam? Also weird that its "women rapping" not raping, and the addendum of "women". Also how is women rappers political?

I dunno, maybe because of things like that live performance of whatever her name was (Cardi B, had to look it up) of Wet Ass Pussy during that other live show? That made the conservatives lose their shit and clutch their pearls? I mean I've never actually heard ANY of her songs, but I know her name entirely from news articles about how the right lose their shit about how she presents herself.

So they don't want anyone mentioning it, as it might set off the puritans, given how sexually charged female rap is these days. Because the conservatives have tied sexuality to politics, by claiming it's sinful, and since their religion is the hot politics of the day, that will make it a political rant, about how all the satanic liberals on the Evil Left, in league with Lucifer, to corrupt our youth with debauchery and scenes straight from sodom and gommora! I mean you know the kind of shit they would say.

Oh my God, what is this? Bunch of nimrods are ruining things for everyone. Damn Lucifer is at it again. Or maybe they want to be nice to Canadians.

I dunno. Maybe after the US elected a black president, we're all on the way to democratic socialism or something, but Christ, how does that sync up? Better check the Quran, because right now, we're on a Trump train to hell.

Anyway, out of time. Off to see some women rapping.

Just when I thought E3 could not possibly get even dumber. I almost don't want to even bother because of this. They're literally making a "safe space".

*shrugs* Eh, I mean I don't bother with E3 at all anyway, but of the various topics I think they should devote time and energy to, anything that doesn't start with "video game" seems fairly low on my list of priorities. I frankly don't care what E3 has to say about female rappers, or canada, or any other volatile topic.

I don't care what E3 says about those things either, I'm just dumbfounded by the sheer stupidity. You know what, I am only going to see Capcom's, Square's, Sony, Devolver Digital, and Nintendo's schedule/stream. Everyone else can fuck off.

Thinking on it, I've literally never watched E3. Don't mean that as a hipster badge of honor or anything it's just that I don't get generically excited for gaming or gaming news. If something interesting comes up I'm sure I'll hear about it on youtube or google news or if it's something honest to "good" I'll hear about it here or it's be on the front page of steam. I'm just not the type to rush out and buy games either so its largely meaningless to me.

I feel like E3 exists solely for the press who'll find a way to cram the news down my throat anyway.

Well for me it's because I don't really care about the tech demo stuff, so like half the presentations are something I skip through. Once I see a dev, or designer, standing there, talking about the new roto-lasik-scoping-frames, and how pixelizing the bitfrumps or whatever, I just glaze over and start thinking of anything else. So it boils down to the trailers themselves. And those I can just see in highlights the next day, on YT, quickly skipping through the ones that I know right away I have no interest in. "Oh, this next 10 minute sequence is Clachet and Rank: The Re-Ratcheting, welp, no need to watch that, skip. Wash, rinse, repeat.
