A night where only two people died and one of those deaths was if health issues is not going to rank highly to historians.
It's not the deaths that matter, it's the symbolism: the president whipped up a mob to attack the legislature in the name of overturning a democratic election. Even with the slightly half arsed nature of it, that is bad. Very, very bad.

Except to the Trump cult, of course. But they've had four years training in passing off every new worst as somehow not a big deal, because they can't think past tribal loyalties.

I mean, the opposite is true, and classically so. It's literally the Boy Who Cried Wolf. Every new "worst thing ever" according to people of your perspective that was totally mundane was another nail in the coffin of legitimate criticism against Trump. People should accept the results of the election, but the media and the left have nobody to blame but themselves for how completely shot their credibility is, especially on Trump.

The only reason you made this post was to once again confuse liberals with the left.

"Stop meddling in Afghanistan", says a man who extensively assisted the initial intervention, was a security officer for a previous regime which also invaded Afghanistan, and who continued to surreptitiously meddle in Afghanistan throughout the ongoing conflict.

Guess that means we should keep meddling in Afghanistan, then
I'd prefer nobody did, and they had a long-deserved opportunity for self-determination, though "self-determination" also precludes being governed by a theocratic cult with absolutely zero interest in popular representation.

I'd also prefer that co-conspirators like Vladimir Putin weren't able to wash their blood-drenched hands of the affair and pretend they weren't involved. Similarly, I'll be pissed off if the history books credit Joe Biden solely with the withdrawal, and not with the bombs dropped during his eight-year tenure as V.P.

Interestingly, the Soviet intervention in Afghanistan was preceded by the beginning of the CIA's Operation Cyclone.

Indeed.

Apparently, the Chinese government overstimated their people support of the Taliban

The Chinese people are not happy with their government supporting the Taliban.

The fact of the Chinese government is getting major backlash from this is a big deal, all the other stuff like Hong Kong, cleaning other people's sea territory, or persecution of Muslims did not get huge backlash but this did. I recommend reading the article because it's really interesting.

edit:

does not help this also happened
I'd dare say the CCP is just doing this to back their buds, the Pakistanis. And made build some roads and ports...

Is this an attempt to defend the Soviet invasion of the country or just an attempt to deflect away from it through whataboutism?

Do you not find it interesting that the Soviet Union's intervention in the affairs of Afghanistan (justified by treaty with one of the various governments that came after the Saur revolution) was preceded by the CIA supporting an insurgency by the predecessors of the Taliban? Or do you prefer to get your history from Rambo III?

Yes, there really was quite a race for who could act as the most invasive, imperialistic global power.

And that is exactly the sort of thing I mean.

At best, the "but the media" line is nothing but an excuse to justify blinding yourself to Trump's venality and incompetence.

This from the guy who, in the age of Republicans earnestly talking about "Jewish space lasers" and "Italian satellites switching votes", told us that Trump made liberals lose their minds.

Someday you're gonna see it. Once you're far enough removed, you'll understand. You'll look back and think "huh, he was just doing the same crap as all the other presidents, why were we freaking out so much?"

A race easily won by the United States, considering their placement on the other side of the globe.

The better question is why aren't we freaking out so much the rest of the time.
