"I'm not reading things into what you said... but I think you're only saying that because of assumptions of things I think you believe without you having said them."

Yup, mmhmm, got it.
Great editing there, Patricia Pulling. Hey, that looks fun, let me have a go.

"I'm ... reading things into what you said ... I ... think ... assumptions ... without you having said them."
Wow, thank you tstorm. It takes a lot of courage to admit you were wrong. I'm glad you could do it.

Look, you did say the image was sexual, right? You said the photographer posed it to be sexual. Those were your actual words, right? Perhaps you should explain what else you could have meant other than that this image was sexually graphic and made with sexual intent?

Yes you did.
Really, I think I'd know.

Look, do you want a little concession? I actually got the US 5th Grade confused with the British Year 5. Year 5 in the UK is ages 9-10, while 5th Grade is 10-11. So yes, according to the WHO definition of an "adolescent" (which I did just google) and despite the fact the average age at which a child begins puberty is not age 10, middle school children in the US are technically adolescents in the eyes of the WHO.

Now, since I've already explained that I genuinely do not care. Perhaps we could move on and address the actual point, namely why you think any adult has to particularly care or worry about the opinion (or pathetic attempts at mockery) of literal children. And yes, before you ask, the UN defines a child as a person under 18 so don't worry, that's an entirely correct usage of the word 'children' under international law.

Wai...wut?

Okay, first thing, I'm not a fan of CRT, but as pointed out, he's a PRINCIPAL not a teacher. What in the screaming blue hell did he do in regards to what people probably think is CRT?

Do any of you seriously believe a public school district asked the principal to take down his romance novel cover picture because they're against interracial couples, and if so what universe do you live in?
YES, and it's called RURAL AMERICA, somewhere you have no clue about clearly.

You're all missing the point. I'm not saying the picture is pornographic or inappropriate in a general sense. I'm not saying that picture is something kids shouldn't be allowed to see.
Yes you are.

I'm not suggesting in any way that the picture would corrupt the youth, I'm saying it might impact his reputation among the youth who they need to respect him to maintain order.
You don't respect people who have romantic relationships? Or kids don't?

Do any of you seriously believe a public school district asked the principal to take down his romance novel cover picture because they're against interracial couples, and if so what universe do you live in?
Yes, because America is a really fucking racist country. Where the hell have you been the last 200 years?

There are 2 reasons to object to that photo:

1. You're a racist.
2. You're a prude.

Pick one.

The people who will get fired won't have much to do with CRT. It's not the point. It's the sacrificial lamb needed to appease raving mobs. Unfortunately, it doesn't satiate the mob for long. This won't stop for a long time and many people will be fired over something they didn't do. This has all happened before

I would say there are definitely some people who don't like the interracial stuff. But they won't say it due to that not being kosher and are using terms that are more polite. They can then turn a whole bunch of other people by using words that appeal to the masses.

As I said, I have trouble seeing this photo as that sexual and wouldn't have a problem showing it to my kids.

Satanic Panic all over again. I know gamers like to fixate on the D&D and video game part of that scare, but there's day care providers still in prison over that bullshit

I'm currently in Bedford, VA for the weekend. You may judge my personal knowledge from that.

I'm in one of the only multi-ethnic nations on the planet. If you think America is really racist, you have no concept of the rest of human history.

It was intended to display sexuality. This isn't that hard to understand. You decided on your own to believe I was calling the picture sexually graphic, despite me preemptively saying otherwise.

Oh right, I forgot the conservative dogma: America is not and never has been racist, that's all a liberal plot to divide us.

Prude it is then.

You don't seriously believe the USA is one of the only multi-ethnic nations on the planet, do you?

Personally, I would suggest the majority of countries in the world are multi-ethnic.

You're really not.

Let me pick a random nation, say Mali.

According to wikipedia. Mali's population is 33.3% Bambara, 13.3% Fulani, 9.8% Sarakole, 9.6% Senufo, 8.8% Malinke, 8.7% Dogon, 5.9% Songhai, 2.1% Bobo, 1.7% Taureg and the rest consists of other minorities and foreigners.

Think this is a fluke? Let's do Afghanistan.

Afghanistan is estimated to be 38.5% Pashtun, 21.3% Tajik, 24.5% Hazara, 6% Uzbek, 3.2% Aimak, 1.2% Turkmen and 0.5% Baloch, again with the rest consisting of other ethnic minorities and foreigners.

Most countries in the world are (to some degree) multi-ethnic. Even Tajikistan, whose name literally means 'land of the Tajiks', is only 84% Tajik.

What you mean is that you live in one of the few countries with demographically significant racial minorities, which is still not particularly true, and certainly doesn't attest to the absence of any kind of racial tension. In fact, a lot of it points to a very complicated history around race and racism which doesn't exactly bode well for the present situation.

It was intended to display sexuality.
How?

This isn't that hard to understand.
Then it shouldn't be hard to explain.

I've been to Bedford. My brother even lived there for a time. I've had more time there than you have.

And where I currently live and was raised, this is more rural than THAT. I'm talking a place where my current supervisor openly jokes about wanting to "Hang n!ggers in my backyard."

Ah yes, but you forgot, the people in Mali are all from Africa so clearly they are the same nationality.

Same thing with Afghanistan. They're all middle east because they are Muslim

Also, we've apparently time travelled to the 1880s

I'm saying that publicly displaying the sexuality of a person who is the highest authority figure in the daytime hours for a bunch of adolescents is an easily avoidable misstep. I'm not suggesting in any way that the picture would corrupt the youth, I'm saying it might impact his reputation among the youth who they need to respect him to maintain order.

Our middle school principal did cartwheels and showed off his marine saber and we all made fun of him for being short. I think he molested a kid a few years later. I’d swap for this guy he seems way cooler.

Virtually every country in the Americas is more ethnically and racially diverse than the US, as well as many other nations in Asia (Russia and China come to mind, though moreso at other points in history for Russia). You need to read a book that isn’t so Eurocentric.

Edit: Also, fun note, defending a nation from accusations of racism because it is “multi-ethnic” would technically apply to Apartheid South Africa, where the government tried to sterilize the entire black population.

It's also a somewhat widespread phenomenon that other countries require formal political representation for their various minority groups apart from whoever happens to win a legislative seat. This is something the United States very pointedly does not do.

Dude. Kissing your wife damages the children. How dare you...

Imagine if he ever kiss his wife in public. Also, imagine this not being the exact nonsense the Taliban spouts. No wonder we are allies now

Most of the countries in the world can be multi-ethnic without most of the nations of the world sharing that distinction. A nation and a country are not precisely the same thing. For example:
Think this is a fluke? Let's do Afghanistan.

Afghanistan is estimated to be 38.5% Pashtun, 21.3% Tajik, 24.5% Hazara, 6% Uzbek, 3.2% Aimak, 1.2% Turkmen and 0.5% Baloch, again with the rest consisting of other ethnic minorities and foreigners.
Is Afghanistan really a nation? Isn't part of the mess made by imperially determined borders that they ignored the breaks in existing communities, splitting some nations into pieces while grouping others together than want nothing to do with each other? Did the Afghan people not just let the Taliban have their way in part because most of those people have no real sense of national unity? I appreciate that there are a wide variety of ethnicities within modern legal boundries all over the world, but do they see themselves as a single nation? Despite a myriad of cultures and language and ethnicity and race, the US has a communal sense of national identity that lots of places don't have. Is the UK one nation or four?

The US is a multi-ethnic nation. We have a shared sense of community and national identity that is independent of individual ethnicity. Most countries are not like that.

Your current supervisor is a turd then, but I don't imagine your current supervisor running a school district anywhere. Particularly one where we know they made the staff do racial sensitivity training. Do you really think there are people out there who go "well, we're gonna do some racial awareness training and teach about the book White Fragility, but make sure you don't put interracial couples on Facebook, cause that's a bridge to far."

I know you all like to argue against me cause its fun, but there's no way you can seriously think the school that sponsored the training that people are upset about targeted only one picture of this man and his wife because they're not the same race. Why have that training? Why not have him take down every picture with his wife? It's a totally illogical conclusion.

*GASP!* He's just being a RACE REALIST!

And besides, why are you keen to CANCEL HIM!? Doesn't he have freedom of speech?!

Particularly one where we know they made the staff do racial sensitivity training.
You're trying to make laugh, aren't you?

Here? In the hills of Appalachia where the staff compose secret lists and gossip about who MAY have voted Democrat? Racial Sensitivity training? That shit will get whoever mentioned it run out of the county.

Do you really think there are people out there who go "well, we're gonna do some racial awareness training and teach about the book White Fragility, but make sure you don't put interracial couples on Facebook, cause that's a bridge to far."
They don't do that here, city boy.

We have a shared sense of community and national identity that is independent of individual ethnicity.
Yea, because I'm sure NYC natives would get along great with small town Florida or Texas and there'd be no conflict of values or culture.

The south is still upset they didn't win the civil war and create their own country and Texas keeps wanting to secede. The north hates the south, everyone hates the west, and no one gives a shit about middle America until it's election time. I think you're giving the US a lot more credit for unity than you should be.

I think you're buying too hard into stereotypes. Like, there are definitely people who fit those stereotypes, but most people aren't like that. Southern hospitality is a real thing. Most people in the north (over the age of 25) understand this. Like, a huge percent of the old people north of the Mason Dixon line travel south for the winter. That's hardly a blood feud. I mean, Democrats want the north to hate the south, and want nobody to care about middle America, and want their friends in the west to feel persecuted from all sides, but that's just electoral fiction.

Most of my family is Democrats, but they'll still give me a glare if I don't stand still enough during the National Anthem. People truly love this country, the whole thing (except maybe New Jersey), the territorial hatred is a lie.
